Kingston DataTraveler microDuo 16GB USB2.0 Flash Drive Review
It's obvious to say that Kingston's microDuo flash drive is not going to be breaking any USB transfer speeds any time soon, but when we look at the wider picture and the market that this drive is aimed at, performance is not really that important.- USB-OTG connectivity
- Inexpensive to buy
- 5 year warranty
- Quick and easy way to copy files between desktop and mobile systems
- A cord or loop would be a huge benefit for attaching to a set of keys
- Older USB2.0 speeds
Kingston DataTraveler MicroDuo: Turn your phone into a 72GB beast
Review The Kingston DataTraveler microDuo is a convenient flash storage device that features a full-size USB interface at one end and micro USB at the other.
Today we take a look at Kingston's DataTraveler microDuo, a tiny storage device designed for easy file sharing between PCs and Android devices.
Extremely Disappointed
I used it on my laptop, tried to transfer a file of 1 GB. and guess what ... got a speed of 1.73 mb/s!!!!! My old pendrive is giving a speed of 10 mb/s on win 8. I am using Huawei Honour Holly( Android 4.4.2) and the pendrive is not compatible with it.
Small but not worth the trouble
Bought this 8G drive to use as a FreeNAS boot drive. It booted once and my freenas has been running for weeks. Took the system down to do some maintenance, and when I went to reboot the usb drive failed. Must have been the secure read once variety.- Small
- Fails
Great little drive. Tested using atto on Win7 x64 SP1 on USB 3.0 port with data being provided by OCZ Vertex 3 SSD. Read: ~22MB/sec Write: ~12MB/sec Using CDM 3.0.3 x64 Seq Read: 21.35MB/sec Seq Write: 12.61MB/sec 512k read: 22.67MB/sec 512k write: 0.307MB/sec 4k read: 5.536MB/sec 4k write:...
- -small
- -light
- -dual connectors (micro usb and full usb
- -worked on my android devices (nexus 5
- nexus 7 2013
- -cheapest 32GB combo drive I have found ($14.99
- -no cap to lose
- -cap can get in the way of some cases
- No issues on a spigen ultra hybrid for nexus 5 however, -write speeds could be faster, -can be easily lost due to small size, -heats up quickly
Small Problem....
Only one small problem: I have a case on my phone which prevents this device from making proper connections. Other than that, it's just fine.
