Fast Boot time
HDD drive failure so decided to go with a SSD. Easy to setup. Cloning software was included, but I was unable to use due to HDD failure, but did try it after, very good product. Buying the kit would be the easy way to go. SSD has decreased boot up times to less than 45 seconds.
It sometimes costs less than better performing drives.
- When first released and reviewed by the industry Kingston used synchronous NAND when building the V300's
- In later revisions they transitioned to using cheaper asynchronous NAND which has resulted in severely degraded performance and did nothing to make customers aware of the change
Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB SATA 3.0 SSD
Lastly, with the initial create task in Compile Bench the performance out of the KINGSTON SV300S3 120GB on Ubuntu with the Linux 3.13 kernel was on par with the OCZ Vertex 3 SSD. At the end of the day there isn't anything special about the Kingston SSDNow V300's performance.
Good product; works
I have an old PC with an old drive and wanted to give it a bit more useful life at minimal dollars. This kit is good value and makes data migration simple. I gave it 4 stars on average simply because it's my first SSD and I don't personally have any perspective on whether it's better or worse than...

Testing Methodology: Here are the results and the Kingston SSDNow V300 240G Upgrade Kit doesn't fail to impress.

Kingston SSDNow V300 Solid State Drive Review: SandForce with New Fixings
You may have the impression that solid state drives on LSI SF-2281 controller have already been studied and tested inside out. However, Kingston managed to come up with a product that turned out genuinely surprising in the most positive way.
Kingston SSDNow V300 (120GB & 240GB) Review
I have one issue with the V300: There's nothing particular in it that would differentiate it from the other SandForce based SSDs. While Kingston said they did lots of customization and worked closely with SandForce/LSI, at least in our testing there aren't any striking differences.
Kingston SSDNow V300 (120GB) Solid State Drive Review
The drive is available at RM 299 but it doesn't come with an installation kit, and yet it costs more than the Intel 330 series of the same size that comes with an installation kit (RM 269)! I didn't buy an Intel 330 series because I already have one, so I thought to give Kingston's drive a spin.
