Kingston's MobileLite G3 is a compact, portable USB 3.0-connected reader for all current variants of SD and microSD card (SD, SDHC up to 32GB and SDXC up to 2TB). That's all it does, and it's priced very fairly for such a simple device, at a few cents under $14.

Review of Kingston MobileLite G3 USB 3.0 Reader

Memory cards are great for capturing images, audio and video. However, transferring this data onto a PC or Mac can be tedious especially when using a USB 2.0 connection. Kingston has a product to help alleviate the data transfer bottleneck by incorporating the latest SuperSpeed USB 3.0 connection...

Fast; Low Price; Portable; Two-Year Warranty

Limited to SD; MSPD and microSD style formats

Fast card reader that works great with Sandisk Extreme Pro SDHC (95MB/s) cards. I use it to transfer pictures from my SD to computer and gets around 100MB/s burst speeds. Downside is that it gets pretty warm if plugged in for a while and it makes rattling noises.

fast (usb 3.0; compact

rattles; feels cheap; heats up

Gets the Job Done

I purchased this device for several purposes, and the G3 works as advertised. I like that I can have two cards inserted at the same time and Windows sees them as two separate drives. Great for moving files back and forth, etc. As other reviewers have mentioned, the design could be improved.

Great value

USB3 card reader. Works and for a reasonable price. I use it to get video's off my HD camcorder (quicker than USB2 cable interface). Get about 40Mbps. I'm not convinced the retracting design on either end offers much protection. I would prefer a cap do keep dust out.

seems to be cheaply made but it works great, just wondering how long it will last...for the price i would have expected a better more quality build.

Works but cheesy construction

I bought this as an inexpensive, very portable USB 3.0 reader. It supports standard and micro SD cards without an adapter and it's fast.

The construction is obviously cheap and appears fragile. I have little confidence it stand up to any abuse.

Fast Transfer; Lightweight

Cheap construction

Fixed all my memory card Problems

I had purchased a Class 10 / 64GB MicroSD card and my computer has no SD Card reader. My old MicroSD USB Adapter was not compatible with these newer generation MicroSD cards. This fixed my issue and it's USB 3.0!

Excellent Interface; Fast Transfer; Lightweight

Bulky; Feels flimsy
