Kingdom Come: Deliverance PC Review

There is no shortage of RPGs set within something similar to medieval times. From series like The Witcher , The Elder Scrolls , Dragon Age and Baldur's Gate , each one brings its take on living in those old days, but they all go down the fantasy route with their design and story.

KCD has so much potential to be a truly great game, but multiple bugs and crashes hold it back from being truly something special.

Beautiful open world; Decent story; Lovable characters

Bugs and Crashes; Loading times; Texture loading and pop-ins; Horrible saving system

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Kingdom Come: Deliverance delivers on its ambitious promise for a realistic, grounded open-world medieval role-playing game, with engaging and complex gameplay systems, weighty and tactical combat and an interesting main story slightly let down by a lack of polish and technical issues on launch.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

It's clear that Kingdom Come: Deliverance intends to convey a sense of realism in a medieval setting. There are no monsters or spells here, and the game's plot involves historical figures from the Holy Roman Empire. Even the player-controlled protagonist must eat to avoid hunger.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance Review – An Epic Journey Worth Your Time

The Middle Ages has long served as inspiration for RPGs. More often than not that inspiration has been limited to a Fantasy realm. The influence is there in Fantasy, of course, however, there are but a few that have a real historical context.

Unique combat; Great visuals; Some epic cinematics

Poor Save system; Lots of bugs

Kingdom Come: Deliverance Review – An Ambitious Adventure

Realism in games is a funny thing. We strive to achieve it with almost every major release, but sometimes I don't think we realise what we want. Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a medieval themed RPG that's been in development for some time, with a dedicated focus on authenticity and realism.
