Kinectimals Review

If you're older than nine, Kinectimals is not the game for you. Microsoft's Kinect-powered kitty cat simulator is strictly for kids and parents who need a new babysitter. While it is an undeniably impressive demonstration of the Kinect's powers, as a game, Kinectimals is so easy and so bland, even...

Flawless Kinect Controls; Beautiful visuals; It's absolutely adorable

Lack of challenge; Repetitious; Built for younger audiences

Kinectimals Review

Few games are as flat-out endearing as Kinectimals. This pet simulator and minigame collection is clearly meant for a younger crowd, and that audience will fall head over heels for the wide-eyed wildcat cubs that romp around with you as you move from one activity to the next.

The animals are absolutely adorable; Some minigames use the Kinect hardware in clever ways; Beautiful and sunny presentation; Decorating your hut has a pleasant dollhouse appeal

Too many minigames involve throwing one object at another; Some activities aren't responsive; The cartoony guide feels out of place

Kinectimals

We admit it. We were those kids that insisted on reading the manual completely through before firing up a new gadget or game. Except sometime in adulthood, we got impatient and started jumping in blind.

+ Colorful; beautiful world with adorable art; + Interactive moments with your pet cub

- Slow; methodical crawl toward next mini-game; sometimes-imprecise aiming system; ? When they say we're catching butterflies; do they really mean murdering

Great graphics; nice for kids

Slow response; imprecise controls; quickly grows dull

'Kinectimals' (Xbox 360)

Ever wondered what it would be like to wash up on a tropical island and train a number of infant wild cats? Neither had we until Kinect arrived on the scene, but that's the premise of

Kinectimals - Review

When Project Natal was first announced, I could already see its future mapped out in front of it. Project Natal, now known as Kinect, would become a dumping ground for a colossal number of games from first and third parties that would follow in the footsteps (or in this case pawprints) of games we'd...

Kinectimals

Kinectimals is one of the launch titles for the new wonder peripheral for the Xbox 360, called Kinect. Kinect replaces the need for a controller by using a very clever camera that detects your body movement and a built-in microphone that understands your speech.

Kinectimals Review

Most certainly a game for children, Kinectimals has a great sense of achievement fueled by an extremely cute presentation and great AI. However, the game is let down by broken controls that, while not making the experience unplayable, bring it down quite significantly.

Review: Kinectimals

Nothing in this world is cuter than a fuzzy little tiger cub. That seems to be the pivot on which Kinectimals is balanced. The levels of cuteness on display are enough to melt the heart of even the most curmudgeonly of visitors to the tranquil island paradise that the game inhabits.

It literally couldn't be cuter without including baby chimps; It does what it wants to do perfectly; Scratching your cub behind the ears until it purrs like a motorbike is lovely

Bumble; There's not a lot of variation or content; It feels like an extremely guided experience; Bumble; Dialogue and narrative are so cheesy it's almost embarrassing
