A .500 Season

Kinect Sports Rivals is the follow-up to Xbox 360's two Kinect Sports titles, which tried and failed to do for Microsoft's motion control camera what Wii Sports did for Wii. The games reportedly sold well, but didn't do much to establish Kinect as a must-buy peripheral.

Kinect Sports Rivals

While there is Skype, Xbox Fitness, signing in with your face, scanning QR codes or using your voice to navigate, there haven't been any (meaningful) game reasons to use your Kinect 2.0 on the Xbox One.

Kinect Sports Rivals Review

- There's potential here for fun, but until you pass the tutorials and Microsoft fixes Kinect, there's no way the game can actually achieve it.

Kinect Sports Rivals Review

Since it launched in 2010, Kinect has played host to a wide range of fitness and sports titles to keep gamers active, while also enhancing the gaming experience (if flapping your arms around is your definition of fun).

Can be great fun; especially in multiplayer; Character creation works brilliantly; David Tennant as the game's narrator

Kinect provides some issues; Local multiplayer requires a lot of space; Football/soccer is a weak inclusion

Kinect Sports Rivals (Xbox One) - Review

At the time of writing, there isn't really anything on the Xbox One to use the bundled Kinect device for, in terms of software at least. There are voice commands, which work most of the time, and it's also a neat IR blaster, so it turns on the TV when you turn the Xbox on, but the attempts that have...

Kinect Sports Rivals review

Despite its issues, Kinect Sports Rivals still offers a very competent motion-control sports experience. The likes of rock climbing and jetski racing present two of the more innovative offers out of the genre, while tennis, soccer and bowling feel like more of the same, even if they do benefit from...

+ Great look and sound; + Rock climbing and jetski racing; + Personable character progression; + Kinect refinements

- Lacks "party" feel; - Sluggish UI; - Competitiveness feels too artificial; - Cooperativeness is lacking

Kinect Sports Rivals

The original Kinect Sports for the Xbox 360 did exactly what it set out to to do. It didn't set the world on fire or reinvent gaming as we know it, but it showed that despite some gimmicky features, the Kinect actually works -- for the most part.

Kinect Sports Rivals Review - Become a sports champion as Kinect on Xbox One scans in your digital self

Kinect Sports Rivals has some great ideas with some of the sports working great while others need a bit more work to reach their potential.

Kinect Sports Rivals

"Does the Kinect stuff work well?" That's the question that matters most for Kinect Sports Rivals . The sports, the leaderboards, -- it's all for nothing if the main motions of swinging a racket or scaling a cliff don't feel good. Fortunately, they do, most of the time.

Great use of Kinect; Good variety of games; Straight to the action

Poor soccer controls; Multiplayer lag issues
