AMAZON Kindle Oasis with Leather Charging Case

Lots of book capacity

Limited other than book capacity plus it's only black and white on screen

Unhappy

The non-glare screen, size and weight were wonderful. However, the display is in shades of grey (no colour) which was disappointing. The browser is terrible but, then, why would it be anything else when it's in shades of grey.

Review: Amazon Kindle Oasis

However good it is, US$290 is a ridiculous amount of money to spend on an e-reader. Obvious, isn't it? Not, it seems, to Amazon, which has released the Kindle Oasis as part of a new wave of products that can actually turn a profit rather than be loss leaders.

Amazon's New Kindle Oasis: The Gizmodo Hands On

Just after 11 am on Saturday morning, I became the proud parent of my very first Tamagotchi, freshly hatched from its virtual egg. By yesterday afternoon it was dead; its passing a poignant reminder that the gadgets we adored as kids aren't always as awesome 20 years later when we're grownups.

Kindle Oasis review: The best e-reader by far (it's also the most expensive)

The base model of Amazon's latest and best e-reader, the Kindle Oasis with Wi-Fi, costs $290. Tech Guide got its hands on the Kindle Oasis and we were surprised at how small it is. It's just 3.4mm at its thinnest point and is lighter than a smartphone at just 131g. But that wasn't the surprising part.

Kindle Oasis

For a more premium experience

Smaller form factor; Enhanced readability due to Bookerly typeface

Priced for premium segment; Battery cover doesn't lock in

Paper books have a charm that their digital equivalents have never quite managed to match. As book collectors will no doubt tell you, an ebook reader cannot replicate the fresh smell of a new book, or recreate the feel of high quality paper.

; Really light; Excellent battery life; Great screen; Nice case; Doesn't offer enough additional features to justify its price

Amazon Kindle Oasis review: Wonderful e-reader, but at a ridiculous asking price

There are few brands in the world where the product itself becomes a category of sort. When it comes to copying, there's Xerox. When it comes to cola drinks, Coca-Cola stands out. Google is synonymous to search. And when it comes to e-readers, Kindle is the name with the most brand recall.

Amazon is back with an all new Kindle which is dubbed as Oasis. The eighth generation Kindle was launched in India earlier this month for a hefty price of Rs. 23,999 for the WiFi variant and Rs. 27,999 for the WiFi and 3G variant .

Brilliant build and design; Leather cover with built-in battery; Great 300 ppi display with 60% more LEDs; Physical buttons and auto rotation

Overpriced; Not waterproof; Less improved software features
