The overall quality standard of both the manufacturing as well as the audio of the R series is commendable. The KEF engineers really deserve an applaud. I replaced iq 70 and Iq 60c with R700 and R200C and it is connected to my Onkyo TX NR 5008.

In the late 1980s, KEF, then as now a leader in bringing new technology to loudspeaker design, developed a unique coincident driver that positioned the tweeter in the throat of the midrange/woofer cone.
This review was an exciting ride. But before I tell you why, let me introduce you to the KEF R700 Foorstanding speakers. These speakers are in the R-Series and are the middle child in a three-way tower line-up.
U.K. speaker legends KEF have been front and center lately with cutting edge products like the flagship Blade and the 50th anniversary stand-mounted LS50. At $1500, the LS50 is a remarkable bargain for those with limited space.
Recent releases from KEF can all claim a trickle down of some of the technology from the concept-come-reality that is Project Blade.
Superbly integrated; Holographic imaging; Deep; tight bass; Dual mode port bungs; Refinement
Quite tall; Bass output requires care

Excellent speakers. I originally bought the r3s and r2c (2018) with LS50s as my surrounds. Sounded great but then KEF had a sale on the whole R line so I upgraded to 2-R700s, 1-r200c, 2-r300 for fear, and 4 iqr2000 for Atmos in ceiling, and R400 sub (steal at $4700).
Excellent detail, imaging, life-like mids, surprising bass, smooth and non-fatiguing; Better than B&W 702 and very similar to Monitor Audio Gold200
Power hungry to get them to shine, so quality separate amp is necessary; Sounded good with Marantz 7013, but are on another level with 200plus watts of clean Rotel power
