When it released its X2 wireless sports headphone in 2015, Jaybird drew some criticism from some users because -- despite some improvements -- it didn't seem like much of an upgrade over its predecessor. Well, now the company finally has a headphone with a totally new design: The Jaybird Freedom.

The Jaybird Freedom is in many ways the best Jaybird headphone yet -- and a strong wireless in-ear sports headphone -- but a few design flaws and its high price tag spoil the package.

The Jaybird Freedom has a slimmer design and offers a more comfortable fit than its predecessors; It offers excellent sound for an in-ear Bluetooth sports headphone, is sweatproof, and offers good battery life when you include the extra four hours you get from the included battery clip; Carrying pouch included.

Inline remote is a little too heavy; if you lose the battery clip, you can't charge the headphones; should cost less.

The Jaybird Freedom 2 earphones are a set of powerful Bluetooth pieces that features extra bass response for better listening. The earphones also have excellent qualities and we think that these sound pretty awesome while also having a nice and customised design.

The Jaybird Freedom F5 were some of our favorite wireless headphones. Jeff actually used them as his go-to running earphones and office/everyday carry headphones. But they weren't perfect and neither are the new Freedom 2.

Most exercise-focused earphones boost the bass, but Jaybird's Freedom 2 really deliver it in spades. Other than their short battery life without the charging clip, there's little to complain about here. And snapping on the clip gets you eight total hours of playback, so there's at least a solution.

JayBird's Freedom 2 Bluetooth earphones are made for exercise-minded music lovers—particularly those motivated by extra bass response. At $149.99, they aren't cheap, but they're about as light as in-ears can get, and also come with an external charge clip for powering up on the go. They sort of need that clip, because their battery life is otherwise pretty short. But all things considered, the Freedom 2 are solid, workout-friendly earphones that will appeal to bass lovers, though there are many good choices in this category, including Jaybird's own X3. Great sports headphones can often be a bit hard to come by. Not only do they need to sound great, like every pair of headphones, but they also need to fit both comfortably and tightly so they don't fall off when you're doing things like running.

The Jaybird Freedom 2 has some fierce competition in the form of the Beats Powerbeats 3 Wireless, the latter fitting better into our ears. This could be a case of personal preference, but we certainly favour the over-ear hook design of the Beats design over the Jaybird.

Right now the Jaybird Freedom 2 wireless sport headphones are my favorite Bluetooth headphones because they are comfortable to wear, sound great, and have the ability to play for up to 8hrs with the clip on battery. They get two thumbs up from me.
