JBL Link View Review

Featuring a screen and great sound, the JBL Link View makes Google Assistant seem even smarter.

Sounds incredible; Easy to set up and use; Using recipes is very easy and useful; Works with YouTube

More expensive than the Amazon Echo Show or Lenovo Smart Display; Most skills don't take advantage of the screen

JBL Link View review: The smart speaker for stereo fans

JBL's Link View is the best-sounding, display-equipped, Google Assistant-powered smart speaker today. But who knows how long it will hold that title

A genuine stereo speaker; Great bass response for its size; Better fidelity than anything in Amazon's current arsenal

Currently can't be used in conjunction with other Chromecast speakers; Makes video calls only to Google Duo users; $50 more expensive than Lenovo's...

JBL Link View

The JBL Link View has the best sound quality of all current smart displays equipped with Google Assistant . Smart displays are a relatively new category of smart home tech with several good options and no clear frontrunner.

The JBL Link View sounds great playing music, particularly with bass-heavy tracks; Thanks to Google Assistant, the Link View works best as a kitchen assistant, with a great guided recipe system, an attractive touchscreen and a knack for multitasking

You can't adjust the EQ settings of the music; It can be a pain to scroll through content with your voice; You can only make video calls with Google Duo

JBL LINK VIEW is JBL's Entry into the Smart Display Market

The JBL LINK VIEW reminds me a great deal of Amazon's Echo Show. It has a large touchscreen, powerful audio and it integrates easily into your smart home. JBL's offering, however, stands on its own for a number of reasons.

Excellent JBL sound; Bright, responsive 8" touch display; Privacy shield for video call camera; Bluetooth streaming; Responsive to voice prompts; Ambient light sensor and motion sensor make it usable bedside

Nice but uninteresting design; Can only be used in landscape orientation; Limitations imposed by Google make is a poor device for streaming video from non-Google sources; Limited controls on device require turning to the Google Home app more frequently than I would like

JBL Link View

If you can wait, we're curious to see how the JBL Link View compares with Google's own $149 Home Hub , which comes out later this month. For now, though, the Link View is a very capable touch-screen-equipped voice assistant speaker that offers the best audio quality we've heard in the category.

Surprisingly powerful sound; Bright, crisp screen

Bass falters at high volume levels; Can't cast video freely to the screen

Review: JBL's Link View brings a display and high-quality audio to Google Assistant

So far Google Smart Displays are two for two. The Link View doesn't instantly trump the Lenovo Smart Display however - aside from possible Pandora issues, purpose matters. We would rather have the Lenovo on a nightstand for example, since its entry model is more compact and we might never get to...

JBL Link View review: Great sound from JBL, but Smart Displays still have a long way to go

Smart displays aren't for everyone. They're not exactly tablets, but they look like ones and are both less and more useful, depending on how you look at them. With far superior sound and always listening mics, they act as a smart speaker for your home; but without real apps or a fully functional...

Sound JBL is pretty much synonymous with good sound; The Link View doesn't veer from that, providing enveloping sound and oomph with your music, Build It's well-built with sturdy materials that can withstand some abuse if you decide to use it in the kitchen, Cast target It works like a Chromecast,...

Design and display The JBL Link View is very simplistic in design compared to the sleeker Lenovo Smart Display; plus you only get an 8" display in the same dimensions as the 10" Lenovo and for the same price; No multi-room You can't group the Link View with your other Chromecasts and Google...

JBL Link View Review – Smart Display with Superb Sound

Now after using this for quite some time the real question is should you pick one up and is it better than the others from Google and Lenovo From a design standpoint I like it as it looks like a traditional speaker with a display, but some be turned off as they want something that is slimmer and is...

JBL does what they do best by creating a smart display with great sound. The features are currently a little limited but over time it will only get better. Overall, the JBL Link View is a solid option for those looking into getting your first Google Assistant-enabled smart display.
