JBL Authentics 500 Review

The $699.99 JBL Authentics 500 wireless speaker is the larger, more expensive sibling to the $449.99 Authentics 300. For the money, it offers plenty of power, a mostly premium design, and the ability to stream wirelessly via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. It also includes hands-free Alexa and Google Assistant, and we appreciate the companion app's adjustable EQ, but other features lack polish. Overall, the $799 Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin remains our Editors' Choice winner for high-end wireless speakers thanks to its superior app experience, better Bluetooth codec choices, and more elegant design even though it lacks the JBL's Google Assistant support.Hefty With a High-End Design At 9.5 by 17.6 by 10.1 inches (HWD) and 17.2 pounds, the Authentics 500 is heavier than the Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin (8.3 by 25.6 by 7.6 inches, 14.3 pounds) and substantially less portable than the Authentics 300 (7.7 by 13.5 by 7.1 inches, 10.8 pounds).
