The IL-2 Sturmovik is not a plane that conjures up much emotion among most gamers or even flight sim enthusiasts.  However, this ground attack plane was instrumental in helping the Soviet Union beat back the invading Panzers of the Third Reich during World War II.

Graphics & Sound: It's no Microsoft Flight Simulator , but I don't think anyone will be complaining. Il 2 Sturmovik's graphics meet, if not exceed, the competitions' level of quality. As is the case with most flight sims, the closer to the ground you get, the poorer the graphics.

World War II games come a dime a dozen these days (or $550 for a dozen). A majority (and by majority I mean all) of these games concern themselves around the Western Front, and the battles between the Americans, British, French, and other forces against Germany.

True confession to make: I have not played a flight simulation game since 1987. A bad experience with Microsoft's "Flight Simulator" for the Commodore 64 has left me more than skeptical of the genre. Perhaps "bad" is the incorrect word – it was a boring experience.

UbiSoft 's latest entry into the crowded library of air-combat PC games is IL-2 Sturmovik , a surprisingly effective, top-notch WWII flight sim.

IL-2 Sturmovik is not for the faint-hearted. Playing it on full difficulty levels is an amazing challenge and something that has occupied me solidly for a couple of months … the shine has far from worn off.

Great game. Had a hard time getting it started on windows 10. After a few hours of reaserch ,/mod installations and pleanty of patience was able together it going.

My first thought when I started up the game was "this does not look like any other Ubisoft game I've ever seen". When I bought this game I thought it would be some awesome, easy, cool WW2 fighter plane game. It is a WW2 fighter plane game, but the controls are very VERY complex.

Hard to use but I'm not a whiz at games..Bought it for grandson to play with but he lost interest when he couldn't get it to fly without crashing..It has some good graphics but for price it's not a bad buy..
