Time out

Huawei unveiled the Watch 2 next to the P10 flagship smartphone duo. Although the handsets took most of the attention in Barcelona, the watches - yep, multiple versions here too - didn't completely go unnoticed either. After all, it's been two years since the original Huawei Watch.

Huawei Watch 2 lasts 25 days and costs at least $300

The Huawei Watch 2 has a special low-power mode that can display the time and track steps for nearly a month on a single charge. Huawei's new smartwatch may be the first one I actually wear for more than a month.

Huawei Watch 2 Review

Early last year I checked out the Huawei Watch. It was Huawei's debut smartwatch, and the Chinese company went for style, using metal builds with colors like gold to try to create a smartwatch that would actually look good with a nice outfit. I wasn't totally convinced.
Pros:
  • Excellent battery life
  • full set of exercise features
  • rated IP68 waterproof and dustproof
  • high quality display
  • fast performance
  • standalone GPS and NFC
  • can connect to Bluetooth headphones on its own
Cons:
  • Relies too much on touch controls
  • needs a physical start/stop button for workouts
  • too expensive

Huawei Watch 2 Review

While I need to test more features, so far the Huawei Watch 2 lived up to my expectations, providing a great experience for everyday usage. I am a big fan of using Google assistant, a feature of Android Wear 2.0 to access all kinds of features, and specifically, to operate the navigation on Google...
Pros:
  • Good built quality and display quality
  • Long battery life in Watch Mode
  • Multiple Workout options easily accessible
  • Built-in GPS
  • standalone Android device
Cons:
  • A little bulky
  • screen-to-body ratio could be better
  • Companion health app could
  • more intuitive

Huawei first showed off the Huawei Watch 2 (herein the HW2) in Barcelona back in February, when it debuted alongside the Huawei P10 at Mobile World Congress. I eagerly rushed to the booth to get some hands on time, only to be disappointed, finding that most of the devices were tethered to security...

Huawei Watch 2: Australian Review

The Huawei Watch 2 is the first smartwatch in Australia that supports 4G, and that's just one of its many tricks. Running Android Wear, it's simple but powerful. This is the first watch you can use properly without your phone in Australia -- and that comes in handy more often than you'd think.

Huawei Watch 2 Review – Is Change Good?

I was a huge fan of the Huawei Watch based on its clean look and display but the smaller screen and large bezel makes it look the Watch 2 seem like a totally different device. It's great as far as battery is concerned and if you like to work out its accuracy and responsive is up there in terms of...

Huawei Watch 2 review: Why?

The Huawei Watch 2 has proven an uncommonly hard thing to like. While it ticks all the boxes for a modern Android Wear device (well, most - the rotating crown would have been nice), Huawei has executed the product in a way that just defies common sense.
Pros:
  • Display It's bright enough and it has an ambient light sensor
  • Android Pay It's here and it works
  • GPS
  • LTE
  • PPG
  • NFC All the acronyms! The Watch 2 has LTE in the non-Classic variant I'm using here
  • along with GPS
  • a heart-rate sensor
  • and NFC
  • Battery It easily lasts over a day
  • but I never managed...
Cons:
  • Looks I realize this is subjective, but I've yet to speak to anyone who had anything nice to say about how the Huawei Watch 2 looks
  • It is generic men's sports chronograph in the extreme, Feels cheap Between the plastic body, comical bezel, and the bargain bin silicone wrist strap, the Huawei Watch...

Potentially great. But not.

Not as suitable for Australian use as expected. This dispatched from China and I suspect it is an international model. Can't make calls from it and can't answer calls when paired to Android phone. Recommend against this supplier.

The watch is okay looking, the battery is terrible, the watch keeps disconnecting from the app I have already deleted and reinstalled everything twice in 6 weeks. My wife bought a cheap smart watch for £11 off eBay and it does more than my watch. She hasn't had any bother with hers compared to mine.
