OnePlus 5 was a very well received smartphone, and certainly one of the best that we saw this year. To keep the ball rolling and to keep the 5 relevant for a few more months, OnePlus is out with a mid-cycle hardware upgrade, the 5T, that further refines the premium mid-range experience and justifies...
mid range device performance decreases after few months
quick face recognisation; good camera
no dual front camera; no dust resistant; no water resistant; no sd card slot; no stereo speaker
In what's quickly becoming an annual tradtion for the company, OnePlus is back with a new take on a phone it released earlier in the year. For OnePlus, the OnePlus 5T represents a chance to improve on OnePlus 5, a device that was mostly stellar but marred by a less than great camera experience,...
Superlative performance in almost every context; 'Pure' Android with smart and thoughtful added features; Long-lasting battery and excellent fast charging support
Main camera still under performs in low-light; No waterproofing or inductive charging; Does not ship with Android Oreo pre-installed
The Huawei P10 is an impressive beast – it's gorgeous, powerful and the dual cameras are a huge improvement over the 2016 flagship, the P9. Portrait mode works better than expected, photos are crisp, vibrant and detailed and even the selfie camera has had a meaningful upgrade.
Last year, OnePlus replaced the 3 with the 3T because there was a new processor available. This year, it's a new kind of display. In both cases, the changes wouldn't be major enough for large brands to break their yearly cycles, and that just shows the differences between the old and new guards.
For £499, the OnePlus 5T looks like it has everything you'd expect from a phone that costs hundreds of pounds more. There's a 6in AMOLED display, Snapdragon 835 processor, dual camera setup, fingerprint scanner and new facial recognition technology.
Very fast; Modern design; Fingerprint scanner and facial recognition are really good; Clean software with a few useful tweaks; Dash charge is great
Camera is disappointing; Storage not expandable
Huawei P10: Huawei's repackaged P10 flagship is the perfect photographer's companion
Improved performance; Lengthier battery life; Still a fantastic camera
Brexit induced price hike
very disappointed, not a good fit and it seems like the edge is a more flexible material that was so thin it was sharp. Also, there is a seam between the glass and this flexible edge and I couldn't get that to stay flush with the phone screen leaving a long skinny bubble all along the edge.
The OnePlus 5T is a solid piece of the device for sure with the amazingly optimized processor, improved low-light camera, and a fluid UI. Even though the OnePlus 5T is not a quiet revolutionary upgrade from its predecessor, it does comes with few noteworthy changes on board and the company has...
Large 18:9 display is good; Snappy performance; Good camera; Dash Charging technology
Lacks OIS; Lacks IP certification; No Android Oreo at launch
