The Huawei Mate 9 excels as a piece of hardware. The display is big and bright. The processor performs admirably and is relatively fast albeit with an occasionally slowdown. The camera produces high quality pictures. The fingerprint sensor is fast and accurate.

Huawei Mate 9 Phablet Review
Huawei's Mate 9 is a strict evolution of its high-end phablet. It is another step ahead in terms of features and performance, and it is still one of the biggest devices in this class, even though it now has a slightly smaller screen. Despite the size, the handling is still very good.
Pros:
- fast camera, great camera with hybrid zoom, fast storage, compact and appealing design, up to three years warranty, LTE Cat
- 11, wide frequency coverage, great voice quality with noise suppression, App cloning, IR blaster, dual-SIM ..
Cons:
- ..
- but only as hybrid slot, microSD-cards cannot be formatted as internal storage, no App2SD, clattering power adapter, slow SD slot, mediocre WiFi performance

Huawei Mate 9 Review: In Depth
The Huawei Mate 9 isn't quite the essential purchase that Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 was (before the whole burny screamy saga), but it is a very good super-sized handset.
Pros:
- Great software
- Premium finish
- Excellent battery life

Huawei Mate 9. in-depth review - Phab-tastic
Perhaps the most significant difference between the Mate 9 and its predecessor, the aptly named Mate 8, is its availability. Network stores like Three never carried the Mate 8 , but it's fully expected to take the Mate 9 after the success the P9 has found in the UK.
Pros:
- Battery life
- stereo speakers
- fantastic front-facing camera
Cons:
- Too big for some
- exclusion of AMOLED display
- primary camera still isn't there

The Chinese company was the number three brand in the world in 2016 with 9.3 per cent market share behind Samsung (20.8 per cent) and Apple (14.5 per cent). Its impressive growth last year came after the release of products like the P9 and the Mate 8.
Pros:
- Large screen
- sleek design
- customisable user interface
- excellent dual lens camera
- long life battery
- fast charging
Cons:
- Not water resistant
- only FHD resolution screen
- could be cheaper

Huawei's P9 was billed as the smartphone any photographer – budding or otherwise – should have in their pocket. True, dual Leica lenses and sensors manufactured by Sony helped secure the P9 as the camera with a smartphone attached to have in 2016, but its specifications made it just that: a camera...

The perfect Android phone. Almost
Here's a phone we've looked forward to reviewing. The Mate 7 was our phone of 2014 and the Mate 8 was in our Top 5 best phones of 2016 . We've reviewed many middling phones of late so we've been hoping that Huawei's new flagship would impress us. It didn't get off to a great start.
Pros:
- Great battery
- Very fast
- Good value
- Potentially-amazing camera
Cons:
- Potentially-disappointing camera

Huawei Mate 9 review
Huawei has come leaps and bounds in the UK market and despite launching a number of smartphones in 2016, from the flagship Huawei P9 and P9 Plus to the mid-range Huawei Nova and Nova Plus , but that wasn't enough.

Huawei Mate 9 review: The closest phone to a Note7 replacement
Huawei has a small market share of smartphones here in the states, but not enough to make an impact like Samsung or Apple or HTC. It's another story overseas in China as Huawei was the second top smartphone vendor there last year, slightly behind OPPO.
Pros:
- The build quality and design are nice and with a curved back, it adds grip to the device so you don't drop it
- The display is great even with it being 1080p
- The sound and camera quality are good
Cons:
- Max volume had some crackling noise and music doesn't sound the same
- A few times the camera would have colors look as if they're faded
