Huawei Mate 8
Huawei's all-metal, 6-inch Mate 8 has a lot going for it, especially its long-lasting battery and high camera quality. After all, those are two things almost anyone would look for in a phone.
Pros:
- Huawei's Mate 8's battery life goes on and on
- it snaps good photos and has a fast
- accurate fingerprint sensor and a loud speakerphone
Cons:
- This ginormous 6-inch phone is just too unwieldy for smaller hands
- It has a dim screen and a low resolution compared with other phones

Huawei Mate 8 review: An overpriced battery life beast
The huge, metal Huawei Mate 8 has plenty of appeal and only minor drawbacks, but it's too expensive to sway fans of large-screen phones from the Nexus 6P or Samsung Galaxy Note 5. Huawei's all-metal, 6-inch Mate 8 has a lot going for it, especially its long-lasting battery and high camera quality. After all, those are two things almost anyone would look for in a phone. But unfortunately the handset's price tag is too steep to close the deal -- €600 for the 32GB version and €700 for the 64GB model. Those numbers translate to roughly $650 and $760; £450 and £525.
Pros:
- Huawei's Mate 8's battery life goes on and on
- it snaps good photos and has a fast
- accurate fingerprint sensor and a loud speakerphone.
Cons:
- This ginormous 6-inch phone is just too unwieldy for smaller hands
- It has a dim screen and a low resolution compared with other phones.

We've had many high-end smartphones waltzing through the review pit here at htxt.africa, and that's to be expected what with all of the new phones announced at CES and MWC now making their way onto the local market.

In all, we like the Huawei Mate 8. It's beautifully designed and, for a phone this size, a pleasure to use. The sluggish performance of past Huawei flagships has been banished, and the Mate 8's battery life is very good too.

Huawei Mate 8 review
The Huawei Mate 8 is exceptionally quick, but this 6in phablet is held back by a hopeless camera and a frustrating UI

Huawei Mate 8
Every time a new Huawei phone is released, there's the same question asked: Can we have this design, but without the awful software Last year, with the , that request was finally answered. No one is really asking for a Nexus 6P with awful software and in many ways that's exactly what the Mate 8 is.
Pros:
- Lovely design
- Great battery life
- So
- so speedy
Cons:
- Shocking software
- Inconsistent camera
- Colours issues with the display
- Broken Google notifications

Featured Review: Huawei Mate 8
Huawei had a stellar 2015 to say the least. The company saw the largest growth it had ever experienced and has retained its place among the 3 largest smartphone OEMs in the world.
Pros:
- Incredible build quality
- Somehow doesn't feel like a 6-inch device
- Instantaneous fingerprint reading
- Top-of-the-charts performance
- Granular cell and WiFi data management
- Out of this world battery life
- Excellent directional audio recording
- One of the best LCD displays out there
- Android 6.0...
Cons:
- Camera is sub-par for the price
- EmotionUI can really get in the way at times
- Memory management is terrible by default
- too many apps close as soon as the screen goes off
- Battery life may be amazing but it's because of the overly aggressive background-app killing service
- Missing some huge...
