There is no One M10 at MWC so here we take a close look at the HTC One X9.

The HTC One X9 is a new phone that was, well, launched a few months ago. So it's not new. But it is new because it's now being shipped to more countries, and has some beefier specs than the very similar A9 which WAS launched... wait, let's clear this up. Last year, HTC launched the One A9 .

It was launched alongside the more high-profile HTC 10, which is the company's flagship, and still managed to turn heads with its eye catching design. But will turning heads be enough for the HTC One X9?

Let's face it, HTC is not what is used to be. And while its flagship phone and its fancy VR headset may bring it into the news, it's not in a position to command the high price of Rs 25,990 for a mid-range phone with nothing at all interesting about it. That's the stark truth.

It's not a good time to be HTC today. The company is betting big on VR (with the Vive) and the company's focus on its hero products, its smartphone seems to be gradually fading away.

Spending a good amount of money on a smartphone nowadays means expecting luxury with features. Any phone in the sub 15k price band can provide standard features with a decent camera set, build quality, computing hardware and some extras – like a fingerprint sensor.

Sadly, we didn't get the HTC One M10 at MWC 2016, but HTC didn't arrive empty handed either, instead it brought the HTC One X9.
