Does not work

Amazing headset but if you have an AMD x570 chipset it may not work at all. I have been waiting for HP and Gigabyte to fix the issues but have almost given up hope.

For a native Windows MR solution, impossibly hard to get working

Have had the device for nearly a week now, and still haven't got it working properly – complaining about needing a USB 3.0 port (as lots of people have experienced). I've followed every single troubleshooting step but nothing seems to work. You'd expect a WMR device backed by Microsoft should be the easiest plug & play experience, yet it appears to be the most error prone even though my system completely meets the requirements. May have to RMA if HP support (only available 9–5 weekdays in NZ) can't help. Will change my review if I can finally get it working, be pretty sad if I can't use it over my 3 weeks off around Christmas.

Poor software

Terrible software solution from Microsoft, have as yet been unable to get this working or playing games, can't get into the "clifftop house' in WMR, even thought steam sees the headset, it will not display games on it, the best I can get is a blank screen in WMR where I can see nothing but my controllers, tracking seems to work, but that's the end of it, this headset needs a way to completely bypass any Microsoft software, may end up returing it

Great headset with some teething troubles

Once you get this headset going it's amazing. We had problems initially setting this up, the screen would go black and on and off. It was a pain.the eventual fix, reinstall windows 10 – now it works great. Another issue that might crop up, is when the volume is too high and games send very loud noise, the power draw on the headphones turns the screen off briefly – the current workaround: reduce your headset volume to 80%. Other than this, it has been a solid headset, excellent clarity, amazing sounds and fantastic refresh rate. Very impressive and definitely sets the standard for midrange priced but high quality VR.

Doesn't work with x570

If you have an amd x570 motherboard, the headset will not work and HP have provided no ETA for fixing it

Great upgrade from Rift CV1

The clarity in this headset is amazing – no more screen door effect. 4 stars out of 5 because of two reasons – the FOV is disappointing (it is basically the same as the Rift CV1, maybe if I mod it so my face sits closer to the lenses it will be better). Also, quite a few people experience hardware faults where it can't detect the USB cable. So you run the risk of having a faulty device and going through the RMA process, as I did. Thankfully both HP and MightyApe were forthcoming and quick to deal with, so I now have my replacement unit and this one works. Very happy I stuck with it and didn't opt for a refund.

One of the Best

The visual fidelity in this is AMAZING, and so are the two earpieces/speakers. The only thing I wish was a bit better were the controllers, but they are on par with other headsets except the Valve Index. Definitely worth every dollar!

Good

Good. Only issue is these MWR controllers aren't commonplace in the VR community, so lots of games and applications that are made with the vive and occulus in mind have a hard time with these controllers. Remapping the controls is a common occurrence

One of the best headsets out there is not the best

I have had meany headsets and this has to one of the best out there with the res the best you can get in any headset right now. The tracking on the headset is really really good and the controllers are about 90% there this is because of inside out tracking and will never be as good as light house tracking BUT still very very good. The headset is really light and I can play for hours on end with no problems at all.

HP Reverb G2 VR headset review: Resolution revelation

This headset is a great virtual reality option, made convenient by the Windows Mixed Reality elements, easy controls, a comfortable fit, and some of the best visuals on offer too. However, the included controllers aren't our favourite and, yes, we wish it was wireless too.

Comfortable fit; Easy setup; Fantastic inside-out tracking; Interesting mixed-reality experience;

Velcro head strap system is a bit old hat; Controllers can be faffy; It's not wireless;
