Easy to install and have not had problems at 6 months trouble free workhorse. Good with display so you can flip up and down if necessary. Especially good if you keep it in a cabinet, you need to display for troubleshooting ....
While it won't win any speed records, this auto-duplexing laser offers superior print quality at a reasonable price. (The per-page cost is decent, but less so if you print a lot of pages.)
Excellent print quality; Color touch screen; Auto-duplexing ADF; Large paper-input capacity; EPrint and AirPrint support
Relatively slow for its class; No Wi-Fi connectivity
HP LaserJet printers are generally solid printers and this unit is as well, with a couple caveats: Make sure you use HP toner if you want good quality prints; Make sure you get the thing configured properly if you have an enterprise environment and need it to be user-autonomous.
The $399 HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401dw bundles all of HP's latest technologies into a tight package; you get Smart Install that eliminates the hassle of installing off a driver disc, ePrint remote access, and walk-up printing through the USB port on the front, but the 3.5-inch touch-screen display...
The HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401dw's direct USB port; wireless connectivity; and remote printing features offer a variety of ways to interact with the printer
HP Smart Install only works with Windows; and the flimsy touch-screen display impedes usability
I've been buying the 400 series laserjets for several years. I think we have 400n, 401n, 402n, and now 404n printers in our office. We mostly use them for offices that require more than normal printing output. We also have one that is used for a small workgroup of 4 cubicles. I can't complain.
We have used this printer for a few weeks now, all good and no complains so far.
Spec sheet says that it will print envelopes but it will not.
It connects to my WiFi which made siting it more flexible and freed up a USB socket on the computer. It's fast and efficient at printing; good copy quality for a laser printer. It's also fairly compact (though not as small as my old HP Laser Jet).
Some devices can't seem to get the printer out of power save . This forces me to manually go poke the printer. This is very annoying when not in the same room.
Quality printer
Power save should be optional
