Gran Turismo Sport review – back in the race

Sony's racing exclusive finally arrives on PS4, with some of the best graphics on the console, but is it a better game than Forza Motorsport 7

The best handling model outside of a hardcore racer and amazing graphics and attention to detail; Significant improvements to AI and sound design

Some serious content issues, with too few online modes and a radically smaller number of cars and tracks compared to previous games; The whole game is virtually online-only

Gran Turismo Sport (PS4) Review: Only online racers need apply

Gran Turismo 6 was a game of big numbers. Players could race on 71 layouts of 33 tracks, and it boasts a staggering 1,200 cars. Gran Turismo Sport, on the other hand, has significantly lesser tracks and cars. It has just 27 configurations of 19 tracks, and only 177 cars.

Don your best racing suit.

GT Sport may look and feel like Gran Turismo, but it's a very different beast under the hood. In place of an extensive single player campaign and an exhaustive car roster, developer Polyphony Digital have established a professionally sanctioned esport-focused racing platform under the watchful eye...

A demanding racing sim that doesn't sacrifice accessibility; Professionally governed multiplayer offers something unique among racing games; Refined and nuanced driving physics; Cars and tracks look and feel gorgeous

Light on content; Sportsmanship ranking system feels temperamental; Internet connection required

Racing triumph demands an audience: Gran Turismo Sport review [Update]

After encountering some enduring post-launch issues in Gran Turismo Sport that, over the time since launch, have not gotten resolved, we have been forced to revisit our review. As a result, we've made some adjustments to the review content, as well as the score.

Graphics are amazingly beautiful to the smallest details; Races are fun; dynamic; and can be ran countless ways; Car livery is fully; in the most literal sense; customizable; Online play is reliable; quick paced; and easy to jump into; Sounds great; from the ambience and sound effects to the...

Poor connectivity and a litany of server issues from launch; Need for constant connectivity to internet

Gran Turismo Sport review

Tim winds up his year of racing reviews with much-delayed PS4 exclusive GT Sport.

The graphics are a powerhouse for the PS4 system; What content made the final cut is impeccably polished

There are not enough cars, tracks or modes to justify the price tag; An online penalty system that only Pastor Maldonado would approve of; The AI is still braindead

GT Sport Review – A Fresh Step

As a kid, I was never a huge fan of the Gran Turismo games. At the time the cars and tracks looked awesome and realistic but I was never a fan of realistic driving so most of my time was spent trying to wall ride and cut shortcuts across the grass to win races. I didn't do well.

Fantastic Sounds; Very Impressive Visuals (Scapes Mode FTW; Easy Access For New Players

Missing Classic Functions Of The Franchise; Light On Car Manufacturers; Always Online Mode Isn't Good

Gran Turismo Sport Review

The space between releases for the Gran Turismo series has always been at the back of the minds of racing fans for many years. There's no two ways about it, developer Polyphony Digital is a studio that strives for perfection.

Gran Turismo Sport Review – Focused Revolution

From its very first moment, Gran Turismo Sport floods the player with a melancholic symphony of sound and picture that takes you back to the racing days of old. I say racing because that's what it's all about, not merely waltzing past mistake-prone AI on a quest to attain the next driver level.

Tuned driving mechanics; Social space & UI; Online set-up; Addicting challenges; Scapes Mode

Limited cars and tracks; Not exactly inclusive

"Worst GT in the series"

Online play only. Career mode involves doing licences and tracks, on a pre chosen car. Am still to figure out why there is any need for a garage. Or collecting cars. Cant modify cars, did I mention no offline racing. Have to wait for 20 to 30 minutes to get on to one of three races.

Gran Turismo Sport Review – Also Ran

Gran Turismo Sport represents a focal pivot for the series from single-player to online. The result is a great-looking racer with excellent driving, but little to separate itself from the pack.

Visuals push the PS4 to its limit; Interface is clean and easy to use

Single-player unavailable when not connected to servers; Small amount of cars and tracks in comparison to peers; Tags
