Don't Buy!

Terrible product. I have tried to connect to my network multiple ways. Second one that I have had. First one was completely unreliable, connects and then does not connect, requiring constant resetting. This second one just won't connect. Tried everything.

Google's Chromecast

Low cost; cross-platform: works with Android, iOS, Chrome OS, Mac and Windows; lets you put nearly any online video on your TV; small form factor, very portable

No iOS setup at launch, but Google says it's coming; crashes and errors if your Wi-Fi network isn't fast enough; native app support limited to Netflix, YouTube, Google Play Music and Google Play Movies & TV at first, but an SDK will let developers add support to more apps

The long-awaited Google Chromecast is now available to purchase in select Australian retail stores for the modest sum of $49. It's a device that can make it very easy for you to enjoy YouTube and other Google content on your big screen TV.

Small and easy to install; Best suited for streaming YouTube content to a TV

Not a good solution for streaming locally stored video files

Google Chromecast: Australian Review

There's always something that you've seen on the Internet that you want to show your friends; there's always some video or music on your Android phone that deserves a wider audience. Google Chromecast easily and simply enables that - it doesn't do much more, but it doesn't need to.

CONCLUSION This unit is ideal for someone who has a non-smart TV but would like to easily and inexpensively stream media from an Android or iOS tablet or phone to it. Those who already have Smart TVs will benefit little.

Google's Chromecast promises easy "casting" of digital content from PC, tablet or phone to your TV, but it's only officially sold in the US. What's the experience like using it in Australia?

Google takes a tilt at the loungeroom. Costing just US$35, it's not a box that sits under your TV, but a dongle that plugs into the back of it, into a spare HDMI port. It then allows you to wirelessly sling – or "cast" – videos and web pages from your phone, tablet or computer to the big screen.

Small Size With Huge Potential

Google's Chromecast is a brilliant addition to any TV! The old method of plugging your computer into the TV to display content and videos seems so primitive now as it is so easy to show content from a device on your network to your TV wirelessly.

super simple setup; easy to cast websites; fast loading times; high quality video

few sites support chromecast nativly; local content isn't supported out of the box

Great little device

Great device at an attractive price. Primarily using for Netflix streaming, and can not fault it. Easy to install and configure, and simple to use with compatible applications.
