GoPro Hero10 Black Review

GoPro is hitting a 10th-generation milestone with its annual action camera update this year. And while the Hero10 Black ($399 with a one-year GoPro subscription) is a decidedly more evolutionary update than the revolutionary Hero9 was, it's a better camera for it. The form factor remains the same, so the Hero10 works with Hero9 accessories. More importantly, the video engine has been updated for 5.3K60 and 4K120 capture, aided by superlative stabilization. Its slim design and wide lens make it a favorite for POV action shots, and it works well for live streaming and as a webcam. Although it costs $50 more than the previous model, it's the best GoPro yet, and our Editors' Choice winner for action cameras.Builds on Hero9 Design Last year's Hero9 delivered the first significant update to the line's physical design since the Hero5. The slightly larger frame, color front-facing display, and support for Mod accessories continues here, with some welcome refinements. On the outside, t...

The GoPro Hero10 Black looks a lot like the Hero9, but rolls video with more pixels and double the frame rate, making it the company's best action camera yet.

5.3K capture at up to 60fps; 120fps 4K for slow motion; Class-leading video stabilization; Front-facing color screen; Waterproof without an add-on case; Media Mod support; Wi-Fi and USB transfer for phones and tablets

Battery drains quickly; Costs more when bought without a subscription; Heat limits long-form recording

GoPro HERO10 Black - Brand New review

The GoPro HERO10 is an excellent choice for action video. It feels remarkably sturdy, with a high-grade plastic body that's advertised as being waterproof to a depth of 33 ft. It's very compact and designed to mount to a wide variety of objects, ranging from chest and helmet rigs to sports cars and...

Wide selection of frame rates in most resolutions., Excellent video stabilization performance., Compact design., Superb build quality., Can shoot in a wide variety of resolutions.

Mediocre video quality in low-light., Can overheat during longer recording sessions.

GoPro HERO10 Black - Brand New review

The GoPro Hero10 Black is an exciting, if not overwhelming, update to the world’s most popular action camera. While internal electronics are never the most exciting of upgrades, the performance they bring often is. The GP2 delivers overall improved performance, and that has to be a good thing.

GoPro Hero 10 Black CHDHX-101-RW review

The GoPro HERO 10 Black is a worthy new flagship, offering everything the GoPro HERO 9 Black did but with a slew of extras, some merely nice to have, others more fundamental. Faster, more powerful, lighter and with a vastly better hydrophobic lens, the GoPro HERO 10 Black might be iterative, but it...

Powerful GP2 adds speed and slickness, Improved hydrophobic lens, Horizon leveling upgraded, Resolution and framerate bumped up

No big bang improvement, Battery showing the strain

GoPro Hero 10 Black CHDHX-101-RW review

Beefed up internals make the Hero 10 Black a nippy, powerful, polished action cam – and a slow-mo fiend

Lag-free interface, Fantastic slow-motion capture, Improved upload/app experience

Mediocre battery life, Low-light performance still not great, Grain in HDR photos

GoPro Hero 10 review

The GoPro Hero 10 Black is a fantastic action camera. While on the surface it’s a rehash of the Hero 9 Black (and its shooting resolutions are virtually identical), it’s a very different camera in day to day use. Thanks to the GP2 processor, together with updates to photo and video processing, the Hero 10 Black captures a better image across all lighting conditions. It’s much more responsive than any previous HoPro. The boosted frame rates are stellar for fans of slow motion, while the camera’s nice-to-have features (from better live-streaming and webcam support to faster wireless and wired transfer of video) iron out niggles that plagued older editions. If you’re planning to pick up a Hero 10 Black, make sure you sign up for a GoPro subscription to save a packet. Besides unlimited cloud backup and camera replacements, the £50 annual membership bags you a discount that brings the price of the Hero 10 Black down from £529 to £379. While we wouldn’t normally highlight optional offers in a review, this one is unlikely to go anywhere: GoPro’s been doing it for years, and the lower camera price ultimately makes it even easier to score this Hero full marks.

Lag-free interface; Fantastic slow-motion capture; Improved upload/app experience;

Mediocre battery life; Low-light performance still not great; Grain in HDR photos;
