A full featured GPS and camera with replaceable batteries is a great idea. This one, with an Android system, is also an MP3 player. Even better.Add to that touch screen maps, and you have a killer concept.
Expensive; Unreliable
I was so keen to get this but now I am going to sell...
wifi and gps - can...
very large and heavy
We use this during field work. They are super durable. I once drove over one of these right under a truck tire. The screen got messed up but it still worked! Requires subscription. But easy to connect/disconnect.
This device worked well on my Alaskan Caribou hunt after a very rocky start. It had several versions older firmware when I got it. It would not sync. I tried everything - different cables etc. i also sent an email to Garmin support which was never replied to.

Android operating system opens up the app options; Display is easy to view in bright conditions; Multiple battery options
Expensive; Large and heavy; Relatively old Android version
The Garmin Monterra is the company's first Android-based handheld GPS receiver. Since it is so different from what has preceded it, I'm going to focus my review on changes to the interface and some broader implications of having an Android-based GPS with full access to the Google Play app market.
