Garmin Vivomove Style Review

Garmin offers plenty of fitness trackers and smartwatches that look the part, but not everyone wants to wear a piece of high-tech gadgetry on a daily basis. Starting at $299.99, Garmin's Vivomove Style is for fashion-forward users who prefer the look of an analog watch, but want the brains of a smart device. It tracks your activities, breathing, and heart rate, and offers insights about your sleep and stress. It supports Garmin Pay, so you can make purchases from your wrist, and it connects to your phone to deliver notifications, calendar alerts, and basic music controls. It doesn't offer as many smarts or fitness features as the Editors' Choice Vivoactive 4, but it nicely balances form and function. Design, Features, and Specs  At first glance, the Vivomove Style looks like a traditional analog watch with real ticking hands. Its stylish design hides a cool secret: You can double tap the domed Corning Gorilla Glass 3 lens to reveal a hidden color touch screen. The watch itself has...

The Garmin Vivomove Style is an attractive timepiece with real ticking hands and a hidden color display, but it lacks some useful smartwatch and health features.

Chic design; Hidden color display; Excellent companion app; Supports Garmin Pay; Tracks sleep

Lacks GPS, Connect IQ compatibility, and music storage; Hidden display is dull and hard to read in sunlight; Waking the display can be finicky

Overpriced

The concept and design are quite nice, but the execution and quality are very average. I've had the watch for 2 months now and I'd say they have a while to go to get to a worthwhile product for the price they're asking, due to the short battery life (about two days) lack of wireless charging (god forbid you lose the cable) and easily stained band (despite being looked after and cleaned) and frankly extortionately priced accessories (bands)

Garmin Vivimove Style Review: Smart, timeless, quirky

Fitness watches tend to have a distinct look: Chunky, brightly colored, rubberized. You’re sending a message to the world that you make fitness a priority — or, at least, that you buy the stuff that makes fitness look like a priority. For some, sending that message is part of the appeal. I’ll be the first to admit that throwing on a watch that could help me sail around the world makes my day feel a little more intrepid, even when I haven’t left my neighborhood in weeks. But if you aren’t the type to sport a 26.2 bumper sticker, the Garmin Vivomove Style may be for you. It promises all the inner workings and data of a fully fledged fitness tracker and smartwatch, with none of the look. When I first got my hands on the Vivomove Style, I was shocked at how light it was. With the nylon strap, the timepiece comes in at a minimal 35 grams. With a 42 x 42 x 11.9mm case size, I was expecting it to be heavier, especially considering all the tech that gets packed into it, but the all-aluminum bu...

Great design but unreliable features

I upgraded from the slightly more basic Vivomove HR and this is sadly not worth the money. I was after a nice looking timepiece that would also allow me to track my fitness and keep track of smartphone notifications. I *really* like the look of this watch, in particular the analogue face (and have received many compliments on my watch) however functionality is where it falls down for me. Here are the top 3 shortfalls for me: 1. The watch face notifications are hard to see outdoors on the rose gold face. If it is sunny, you have to be able to shade it effectively to read the screen. This is not easy to do while cycling! 2. The Bluetooth range is short, so it continuously drops out (even at home) and doesn't reliably reconnect (to my iPhone) when it gets back in range. I regularly have to manually reconnect it in settings on my phone once I notice I haven't had any watch activity for some time (and realise it is because it is not connected). There is a setting where you can get a no

Incredible

I can't believe how little publicity this watch has gotten. It is the perfect hybrid watch. If you want a fashionable watch that can track your steps, get notification, Use apple pay, track heartrate, record runs and connect to an app, this is for you. Its incredible how the screen just disappears and it turns into an ordinary watch, you cannot see the screen under any light when it is off. People are always amazed when i show them that this is a smartwatch Watchband is average but you can change it for a desired band. Doesn't include GPS. Get this if you want the best hybrid watch on the market.
