Garmin Vivofit Jr 2

In modern times, when our young ones seem to be more attracted by sit-down entertainment and games than good old running about, it’s important that we encourage them to get more exercise. The Garmin Vivofit Jr 2 is a fun way to inspire, encourage and motivate kids to get off the couch and on their feet.

Fun and fitness

The Garmin Vivofit Jr 2 tracks steps, sleep and 60 minutes of daily recommended activity. Kids are motivated to reach their daily goals with the reward of adventures, games and icons based on a host of characters from Spider Man to Mini Mouse.

Make a splash

The robust swim-friendly band, again based on popular characters from Star Wars to Marvel Comics, features a customizable colour screen and a user-replaceable battery that lasts for more than one year without having to be recharged. Kids occasionally get involved in rough and tumble as part of their everyday play and the Jr 2 tracker can handle plenty of that tough stuff.

Staying on top of things

Homework, practice time, household chores and brushing their teeth are an important part of a child's daily routine. The Vivofit Jr 2 makes it easy to stay on top of all of these things thanks to features like reminder alerts and a task timer.

Exert some parental control

Mum and Dad can have some say in the process by being able to access chore management and reward tools on the parent-controlled app. This allows parents to endure the Vivofit Jr 2 is being used the way it should and that their kids are sticking to the task of staying active while having fun.

Garmin vivofit jr. 2 Star Wars The Resistance Kids Activity Tracker - Gray

We bought this for our 2nd grader. After we see it from friends. It surely motivate him to do his tasks. The price of the watch is quite expensive. Luckily we have target GC, else I don't think I will buy.

Packaging badly damaged

Bought as a birthday gift for my daughter. As her birthday is next week we have no idea if it works or not. Actual device looks and seems ok but the packaging was completely destroyed as if it has been previously opened (badly) by somebody else. As this is for a gift I am so disappointed.

The kids favourite Christmas gift!

I was looking for an activity tracker since the kids are always bugging me to wear my Fitbit. I was weighing this against another (made by a toy mfr) but we are so happy with the Garmin! 1) it has Disney characters on it.

My daughter loves it.

A great watch and goal-setting device, not just for fitness but great for homework and chore reminders. Motivates children with game and reward system. My six year old loves the timer for teeth cleaning and the missions within the app. My three year old is dying for one now too.

Too pricey given its limited features

This is only an activity tracker. I was unable to pair with my Android device (version 4). Tried on a second Android device and also did not pair with the same message that the device was not compatible with the watch. Out of the box it does not tell the time nor can you set alarms on it.

Garmin Vivofit Jr. 2 review: The fitness tracker for kids

The Vivofit Jr 2 is very, very good, but whether it will persuade your kids to be more active is debatable. The main difficulty you'll have is you'll need an iron will as a parent to get your kids to wear it all the time and to abide by the rules you set up on it.

Packed with features; Effective and easy to use; Lightweight and comfortable

Pricey; In-app "game" is weak

Excellent product for the price.

This is an excellent product that keeps my children active. It has curbed behaviour due to the coins that can be given for good behaviour etc. You can add treats which I allow my children to spent their coins on. It is easy to use and both my boys love them.

Brilliant

I brought this for my daughter who has had a few of the cheap activity watches. This one is so much better. You don't have to charge it, it's waterproof and you can change the straps. Changing the straps is really useful because kids are constantly changing their minds.
