Garmin Virb 360

The Garmin Virb 360 delivers strong 360-degree video at 5.7K resolution, but it doesn't come easy or cheap. At around $800 it's twice as expensive as the YI 360 VR , which also supports 5.7K, and a pricier option than the GoPro Fusion.

High-quality 5.7K 360-degree video capture; 4-channel audio; Waterproof to 33 feet; Integrated GPS

Expensive; Internal stitching limited to 4K; Mac software doesn't support 5.7K output; Short battery life when recording 5.7K; Accessory mounts easily lost

Garmin Virb 360 Review

With features not found in other 360-degree cameras, Garmin's rugged Virb 360 is the one to beat.

Image stabilization; G-Matrix sensors and data overlays; Simple; intuitive controls; Voice commands; Fewer stitching errors than the competition

Pricey; Four mics are prone to wind noise; Short battery life; Live-streaming only available on iOS

Garmin VIRB 360 camera review: rugged, simple, powerful

Garmin is a name mostly associated with navigation devices, but it has been branching out to other consumer electronics markets, from fitness trackers to dash cams. A 360-degree camera, however, is probably the last thing you thought it would get into, and yet here it is with the VIRB 360.

Ease of use; one-touch record; voice control; Hi-res 5.7K/30 fps video recording; G-Metrix telemetry augmented reality overlay; Rugged and waterproof with no need for a case

Post-processing stabilization; only for 4K or lower; Live streaming only works on iOS

Garmin VIRB 360 Review

Garmin did a killer job on the VIRB 360. In terms of full spherical cameras, it is probably the most desirable unit out there right now. Of course, the GoPro Fusion is coming out soon and we will review that as well, but so far, the VIRB 360 is the one to go with.

Video quality is really good + works for 360 and linear footage; In-camera stitching works great + HyperFrame Director Mode is pretty amazing; Compatible with tripods and many Garmin/GoPro mounts; Water resistant down to 10 meters w/o external housing unit; Easy to use with helpful editing software...

Very expensive; Lens scratches easily; Somewhat big and heavy; Battery life is still tough on these types of cameras

Garmin Virb 360: A 360-Degree Action Camera for Data Nerds

With 360-degree video capture, action cameras have entered a new era. Although the Garmin Virb 360 may be the company's first 360-degree camera, it's clearly part of the second generation of these devices, as its refined interface and design show.

Takes great video; Rugged design; Built in GPS; Excellent software; Packed with features

Expensive; No built-in tripod mount

Love/Hate with this... Cool toy & showpiece but not 4 me yet

Of everything in this price range, it is the best for 360 video. I was hoping it would have been better. It likes it bright so indoor shots without good lighting is not very good, even outdoor with an overcast day was dark in my opinion.

VIRB Mac Edit Software Non- Functional

I received my camera this week and although the camera is great the software is not functional for Mac. The VIRB Mac Edit software cannot output the video for use locally, Facebook or Youtube, you get a scrambled mess.

Garmin VIRB 360

The VIRB 360 is the latest action camera from Garmin, and the first surprise is that it shoots video for VR. The second surprise is that this could be the best consumer-grade 360 video camera currently on the market.

Shoots 360 video at up to 5.7K; Pre-stitched 4K 360 video; VIRB Edit enables stabilisation and G-Metrix overlays

Relatively pricey; Stitching 5.7K shots not straightforward

Mixed feelings on the camera

While the camera feels and looks good it has some downsides too and of course good features as well. Recording a video in 4K: I must say the in camera stitching is very good, stabilisation is amazing, it also has functions like compass lock, follow path, on screen speed compass elevation etc (gps...
