I have a love/hate relationship with Garmin as I find their offerings overpriced and short of software. This is my second unit as I am ok with the reliability, accuracy of the GPS and track recording though admittedly I do get differing results when retracing same tracks and routes.

I purchased a 64st as I have been very happy with my 60csx and my 62sc, however the 64st is still in the beta stage. The major problem is the unit locks up when switching back to compass mode. Garmin did a soft ware up date and still did not work.

Nice upgrade from my etrex- older unit. Good response in wooded areas as well as open areas. Owners manual could be better but, time using the 64st allows you to figure things out.

This turd of a product will not turn on anymore, unless connected to the computer. Changed batteries to fresh ones about 27 times. Cleaned the terminals gently with a q-tip. Topo map is not very good to get the detail I need for hunting and fishing. I had to spend $169.00 to get a chip with a good topo map. No manual supplied with the GPS expect for quick start up card.

Excellent satellite connectivity. Good for trekking and field use.

As a waypoint GPS it does what is is supposed to do but the route and trace features as well as the Basecamp software it comes with is not as useful expected (Limited capabilities). The included TOPO map is outdated and not completely accurate.
