I purchased the Garmin G3 for only two reasons. The price and lack of subscription. I got more than I paid for. The features of the G3 definitely give the average golfer the best bang for his (or her) buck. I read many reviews on many different GPS systems.

Out of the box the Approach is a small device and will fit nicely inside a jacket or trouser pocket. Garmin has a supplied a cover and clip, which means you can also attach it to your trousers or golf bag. It takes two double AA batteries, which add to the weight of the unit.

Had a chance to test this at the club the last couple weeks. I have to say that it does add a lot of data and casual fun to the game. Personally, as someone who just plays for fun and couldnt care less bout purism, Id use this again and again.

likely saves me 3 shots a round, and that equals breaking 80 regularly. its always awsome on a new course or any blind shots. ps it makes you learn all your clubs true.distances, so all you have to do is hit the blanking thing right.....
