In a market that's dominated by NASCAR racing titles, this is certainly a nice title for North American gamers to get their hands on. This game is truly tailored for those who are fans of the sport and who are into realistic racing titles.

The audio department is a mixed bag. On one hand the car engines sound perfect but on other the announcer repeats himself far too often and never really puts enough excitement into his voice. "We are….racing!" That's about as excited as he gets.

Fantastic online support (well, save for that stupid keyboard for chat), razor-precise driving standards, unflinching penalties and every-corner-is-crucial gameplay make this one of the most tense and rewarding racing experiences on any console.

Given how long it had been since the last Formula One game was released in the United States, many felt that Formula One Championship Edition would never see the light of day in North America.

I was extremely suspicious when I started Formula One Championship Edition . Here in America, we watch NASCAR and race real cars . Europe makes European cars, like little Fiats that two people can lift and throw.

Hyperrealism is boring

I was not going to get a PS3 until this game was out. However, I was lucky to get one online without having to pay for a bundle back in October 2006. Other than Resistance, there were not many games until the F1 game came out. Today another great game will come out, Motorstorm.

It has very nice graphics and sceneries; The game works just like the real Grand Prix weekends; You have to run the card and adjust it in practice, then qualify and finally race; Qualifying uses the 3 section format introduced in 2006, very nice.

It is only 720p :( I just can image how much more beautiful it could have been if it was 1080p; Online multi player seems to be lacking a bit; The chat part is sort of bad; You can only type certain number of characters length per line (which is rather small)

A decent racer that provides a healthy balance of arcade and simulation gameplay.

Various modes of play; good balance of simulation and arcade style of racing; looks spectacular

Presentation is bland; online modes could use some improvement; no voice chat; dated rosters

Formula One Championship Edition manages to tread the fine line between realism and fun. With the driving aids on anyone can pick up the pad and have an enjoyable race around all the official F1 track.

Whether you love or hate Formula 1 there's little denying the quality of Formula 1 Championship Edition. Accept it for what it is and there's a fine racing game here.

Formula One is a quality, though niche racing title. If you're a fan of the sport, this'll be your cup of tea - but if not, give it a rent to try it out first.
