Fitbit Sense Lunar White/Gold FB512GLWT review

The Versa helped Fitbit reverse its fortunes after a long, gradual slide. The company was slow to embrace the smartwatch, and stumbled somewhat out of the gate with the Ionic. But the Versa found a perfect sweet spot that build atop generations of wearable health knowhow, key acquisitions like...

Fitbit Sense Lunar White/Gold FB512GLWT review

The early Fitbits were remarkable for how little you needed to interact with them, but the Sense flips that script. By piling on sensors and features to seemingly compete with Apple, the Sense has added as much complexity as capability.

Nice design and band swapping mechanism; Loaded with next-gen sensors and tracking capabilities; Very good battery life

EDA quick scan takes too long; Fitbit OS is less intuitive and more frustrating than ever; Heavy reliance on Premium makes the price higher than it is

Fitbit Sense Lunar White/Gold FB512GLWT review

The Fitbit Sense is a big leap forward as a health watch, one that produces a lot of data but perhaps fewer insights. It’s the right device for these strange times. If you’re comfortable with that approach, then there’s a lot to like here.

Health data galore; Stress and mindfulness; We love temperature tracking

Fitbit Sense Lunar White/Gold FB512GLWT review

The Fitbit Sense delivers on the basics, but it's clear some features need more work....

High-end; premium design Improved quick-release straps (Mostly) accurate GPS and heart rate sensors Skin temp sensor provides useful data Detailed sleep tracking ~6-day battery life

Google Assistant; Bluetooth calling unavailable at launch Bad inductive button SpO2 tracking requires dedicated watch face EDA and ECG sensors needs refining Fitbit OS still needs work

Fitbit Sense : A healthier alternative?

Plenty of new health related features and good battery life go together to make a solid alternative to fitness tracking rivals

Stress tracking; Great design and display; Fitbit app

Insecure wrist strap; Some metrics for paying Premium subscribers only

Fitbit Sense Lunar White/Gold FB512GLWT review

The Fitbit Sense has definitely impressed us so far, with the new EDA sensor, improved battery life and built-in GPS making a good case for upgrading. With a greater emphasis placed on using Fitbit Premium with the new wearable, there's still a lot more ground to cover before our final verdict but...

New focus on health tracking; Great battery life; Fast GPS tracking; Informative running data

Offline playback limited to Pandora/Deezer; Overzealous step counter; Fitbit Premium required for best use; Back panel scratches easily

Fitbit Sense Lunar White/Gold FB512GLWT review

With the Fitbit Sense, Fitbit has finally made a premium wearable that can appeal to the health and fitness conscious alike. As there’s no lacking for the amount of sensors included, and the vast amount of information and workout plans provided by Fitbit Premium, the Fitbit Sense is one of the best...

Fitbit Sense Lunar White/Gold FB512GLWT review

Bugginess slightly holds back a well-rounded health-focused smartwatch that really tries to innovate

Comfortable to wear; Nice OLED display; EDA; ECG; SpO2 and a skin temperature sensor make the Sense unrivalled for health features; Apple Watch-embarrassing battery life

Seriously buggy and slow; Data overload can be both vague and confusing; Forces you into selecting a certain watchface for SpO2 measurements; You need Fitbit Premium to maximise it

Fitbit Sense review

The Fitbit Sense is a fiercely ambitous smartwatch with mixed results. On the one wrist, you can’t help but admire its intention, and really investing your time in the vast amount of health data it stores for you will surely see you rewarded over time. We’re still getting to grips with the stress management stuff, which seems a bit opaque at first, but it’s a good addition to the Fitbit suite. As is a proper ECG. And that battery is excellent. On the other, however, you have a frustratingly temperamental smartwatch that, while nice to both wear and look at, is too slow and too buggy at the time of writing, and Fitbit’s app library is still a bit naff. If only it cared as much about performance as it does your health and wellbeing.
