Fitbit Alta HR review
Came straight to the conclusion? Here’s the short version: the Alta HR is, for casual exercisers, one of the best and most motivational health-trackers around. The heart-rate tracking adds some genuinely insightful meat to your stats, and it has an almost uncanny ability to tune into the type of exercise you’re doing. The week-long battery life is also a big bonus. Sadly, the Alta HR notches up a few too many minors to get full marks: it’s not water-resistant, the screen is unresponsive and hard to read in sunlight, and it’s missing a few handy features that are found in other Fitbits like ‘guided breathing’ and an altimeter. The sleep-tracking features are also more about promise than real insight right now. It’s a slight shame, because it feels like Fitbit could have made a five star tracker if it didn’t have one eye on balancing out the rest of its range. But unless you’re a swimmer or multi-sporter who likes to get lots of live data from your watch during exercise, it’s the best one it’s made so far. Buy the Alta HR here from Fitbit
Pros:
- Exercise auto-tracking is excellent
- Heart-rate tracking adds depth to stats
- Sleep tracking has promise
- Small and discrete
Cons:
- Not water-resistant
- Screen can be unresponsive
- Lacks an altimeter and guided breathing

The Fitbit Alta HR doesn't offer much of an improvement over the existing Charge 2, and in fact you might struggle to notice any real difference at first. However, the more compact design and improved screen sensitivity is definitely a step up over last year's tracker.
Pros:
- Instant feedback
- HR sensor
- Customisable design

Love my Fitbit Alta
I was given one for Christmas and I love it! Only problem with these fitbits is the bands tend to come loose or undone. I lost my fitbit because of this, I would definitely recommend getting a one of the other bands that actually has a clasp.

Fitbit Alta HR review
The Fitbit Alta HR is a return to the company's strongest suit, with a focus on sleep, wellbeing and heart health rather than all-out fitness. The improved sleep stats are a big step forward, although will require time and perseverance to really kick in with insightful stats.
Pros:
- Slim design
- Custom straps galore
- Good sleep insights
- Heart rate monitor
Cons:
- Heart rate sensor not up to intense workouts
- No breathing training
- Screen a tad unresponsive
- Poor notifications

Excellent product
Purchased this Fitbit online for my wife from Harvey Norman about a month ago. She loves it, all the features you could ask for. Lasts for approx a week between charges and looks good too.

"Fitbit Alta HR Are You A Fitbit?"
I'd always wanted to have a Fitbit Alta HR so when someone bought this for me as a gift I was really delighted. I am on Slimming World and so any extra exercise is always advised especially to get Body Magic. The more exercise I do, the more weight I lose.
Pros:
- Basic design
- not complicated
- fits snugly around the wrist
Cons:
- Expensive
- some annoying features

Good, but flaws.
I wanted a device that could track my heart rate when exercising and track my sleep. I like the strap and the fit. The battery life is good, needing charging every few days and not taking more than an hour or so.

From (former) long-time Apple Watch user
I have had the Apple Watch from the day it was released and updated it with each new release. I've used it mainly for getting call notifications and fitness capabilities. Few months ago I've decided to switch to something less bulky and more importantly, a tracker that can measure you sleep time and...

Great for monitoring sleep patterns
I have had this fitbit for a month now. I purchased it primarily to get a gleaning of my sleep patterns, such as REM and deep sleep stages. I was pleasantly surprised at the detail provided by the fitbit in this area, particularly the many 'awake' stages occurring during my sleep which might be...
