Fitbit Alta review: My favorite Fitbit by far

Fitbit's lineup of activity-tracking bands runs the gamut, from the totally basic US$60 Zip to the powerful cardio companion, the US$250 Surge. The new Fitbit Alta is a sleeker, more stylish fitness band than the company has attempted before, and with its launch, the wearables market leader has hit...

Fitbit Alta HR review: Compromising features for a slim profile and 7-day battery life

There's little denying that the Fitbit Alta HR is a reiterative product. It looks very similar to the regular Alta and a bit like a smaller Charge 2, but it sits somewhere between the two in terms of features.
Pros:
  • Size It's small enough that it can almost go unnoticed
  • This isn't a Flex 2, sure, but it's less prominent than the Charge 2 and won't look weird if you wear a watch or smartwatch on your other wrist, Continuous HR monitoring The highlight feature of the Alta HR - it's in the name after all - is a...
Cons:
  • No altimeter I don't use it often, but the option to see how many floors you've climbed is essential for many
  • Even the Fitbit One had an altimeter so why Fitbit keeps omitting it in some models is beyond me, No "Multi-sport It means you can't manually start an exercise from your Alta HR like you...

Fitbit Alta HR

The hardest thing to predict about a fitness tracker when you buy it is how long you'll actually use it. Many buyers leave theirs to be forgotten in a bedside table after a few months of use.
Pros:
  • Slim
  • comfortable design
  • Accurate heart-rate monitor
  • Excellent auto-recognition and recording of activities
  • Sleep Stages and Sleep Insights are important improvements to overall sleep data
  • Great battery life
Cons:
  • No connected GPS
  • Not easy to see heart rate during a workout (unless heart rate is your default screen)
  • Nighttime heart-rate data and Sleep Stages separated on two different graphs
  • Doesn't integrate with Apple's HealthKit

The Fitbit Alta HR is not the most advanced fitness tracker around. It is not the most functional fitness tracker around but what it does it does well. It is designed to be the fitness tracker for the average person who wants the tracker to be subtle and blend into their everyday fashion, and it...

Fitbit Alta

The Fitbit Alta is one of the best fitness trackers for all-day use. It's slim and lightweight, and the touchscreen is easy to read. It was also one of the most accurate fitness trackers during our tests.
Pros:
  • The Alta has smartwatch and fitness features packed into its small design
  • which makes it more conducive to hardcore exercise than a heavier watch
Cons:
  • The battery only lasts for about five days
  • To extend the battery life, you have to turn off helpful features like Bluetooth and notifications

Fitbit Alta HR Quick Review

With the growing number of fitness trackers in the market, Fitbit's latest offering is a commendable wearable due to its size and number of features. It does lack GPS but Fitbit has a different tracker for that.
Pros:
  • Slim and light
  • Includes heart rate sensor
  • Long battery life
  • Amazing companion app

Fitbit Alta HR In-Depth Review

For most people, the Fitbit Alta HR pick up doing what Fitbits of the past have done: Being a perfectly capable activity tracker. With the porting of Fitbit's optical HR technology into the Alta series, they've expanded the number of wearables they have with wrist-based heart rate technology, and in...
