Hybrid Review

5th Cell Entertainment. Xbox 360. Third-person shooter. Ordinarily, if someone were to mention those three terms in the same sentence, the brain would produce a simple result: Does Not Compute.

Unique take on an overpopulated genre; A lot of options for a $15 downloadable

Takes a really long time to find a match; Won't be stealing Halo or Call of Duty's thunder any time soon

Hybrid Review

Hybrid Review: It might be said often, but Hybrid is truly unlike anything you've played before. It isn't your typical third-person shooter, but that shouldn't be seen as a bad thing. If anything, it's a step forward in the evolution of a genre often criticized for its lack of innovation.

Cover-based flight system works extremely well; Quick rank progression makes each match matter; Standardized killstreaks level the playing field

Long load times can kill the mood; Microtransactions in a $15 game feels kind of dirty

Hybrid Review (Xbox 360)

The game has now been released for the Xbox 360, via the Xbox Live Arcade, and it's definitely looking like an interesting take on the old shooter genre, thanks to special mechanics like a jetpack that's used to fly from cover to cover, or the unique drones that can be deployed after racking up...

+Interesting new mechanics; +Lots of hectic battles

-Gameplay can get boring; -Drones can become distracting; -Confusing and unexplained plot; -Depends on multiplayer servers

Hybrid review

Is it an understatement to say that the market is flooded with third-person shooters? That gamers are up to their chests in chest-high walls? Probably not. That being said, it's all the more impressive that Hybrid , a cover-based shooter from Scribblenauts developer 5TH Cell, feels original and...

An original approach to cover-based gunplay; Taking potshots on autopilot redefines the "fighting retreat"; An even blend of twitch and tactics

Story and setting are a snore; Familiar game modes; Server performance is still not great

Hybrid

Invading Variant forces mean to pillage Earth's dark matter, and only humanity's Paladins stand against them. But who cares? In Hybrid , why you're fighting isn't really important.

+ Stripped-down movement centered on frequent flying = more shooting; less commuting; + Cool special abilities broaden tactical possibilities; while plentiful drones keep the pressure on foes

? Why can't we save and name our favorite loadouts

Fable II

Choice is a feature that has always been a big seller in games. Almost every game offers more and more choices you can make, from what side you take to what clothes you wear. Fable 2 is all about choice, which makes it kind of hard to review from a moral standpoint.

The game provides a lot of choices that actually affect the world around you; The graphical style subverts most limitations, and the audio is fitting

Combat can be awkward and interacting with the world sometimes requires extra work; There are a number glitches that can occur, especially around the family

Hybrid Review

Deftly blending tried-and-true mechanics with a brand-new way to move, Hybrid is a fresh, exciting shooter.

Intriguing twist on traditional movement mechanics; Great array of strategic loadout options; Flexible unlock system

Uninteresting setting

Hybrid Review

The developers of Scribblenauts deliver a unique shooter. Does it hold up in the crowd? Our full review.

+ The player movement is interesting; + Seasons are a unique concept; + Runs smooth aside from network issues

Only a few new concepts; Limited maps and modes; Lot of network issues

Hybrid

The world has fallen into chaos and two factions battle over the last resources available. In Hybrid, the entire world is open to do battle in, divided into continents and districts to dominate.

Hybrid Review (XBLA)

Hybrid is a newly released cover based shooter available on the Xbox Marketplace for the low price of 1200 MSP. Unlike a large majority of third person shooters, 5 th Cell, who are previously known to have developed Scribblenauts on the Nintendo DS, have opted to not include a single player...
