I saw this unit at the BETT (Education Show) at the end of January and the quality of its output was the reason I requested it. I knew it would be big and expected the normal review place in my cramped office not to be enough, I was wrong.

Epson labels the SureColor P600 inkjet printer ($799.99) on its website as being for creative professionals. And indeed, its combination of exceptionally high-quality output, fast speed, and paper handling-with the ability to print panoramic photos at sizes as large as 13 by 129 inches-makes it...
Impressively high-quality output; Can print to a maximum size of 13 by 19 inches for cut sheets, 13 by 129 inches with roll paper; Fine art papers available
Usability issues include some fine-art papers being hard to feed properly; Long lags for some housekeeping tasks
Epson labels the SureColor P600 inkjet printer ($799.99) on its website as being for creative professionals. And indeed, its combination of exceptionally high-quality output, fast speed, and paper handling—with the ability to print panoramic photos at sizes as large as 13 by 129 inches—makes it easily suitable for professional photographers and graphic artists, as well as prosumers. Unfortunately, the P600 ($2,373.44 at Amazon) also suffers from some usability issues that take some of the shine off an otherwise highly appealing printer. Ignoring the usability issues for the moment, the P600 is a clear cut above the Epson Stylus Photo R2000 ($2,173.56 at Amazon) , which is our preferred pick for a bargain-priced prosumer photo printer for up to supertabloid size. The SC-P600 is the first of the "SureColor" branded printers from Epson and it's a great start… plus a good cause to be looking forward to the other models coming in the series.
The arrival of superlative online print services such as PhotoBox, The Print Space and Metroprint has called into question whether, as a keen but non-professional photographer, there's any point in having your own high-quality printer, the kind that takes eight or nine wincingly expensive ink...
Desktop photo inkjet printer release cycles are glacially slow compared to those of digital cameras so it was something of a surprise to learn Epson was going to launch the 13-inch SureColor P600 Professional Photo Printer this morning.
One Small Step For Printerkind If you need a signpost to the fact that the digital imaging revolution is slowing down, look no further than inkjet photo printers. Models from Epson, Canon and HP reached a pinnacle a few years ago and we have seen little progress since.
Epson unveiled its SureColor P600 13″ printer last fall and started shipping earlier this year. As a replacement for the popular R3000, the P600 is a first P-series (for "photo") printer in the SureColor line.
Though we (the millennial generation) don't seem to care about the print that much, I can tell you from experience that seeing one in person creates magic in a person's eyes. I'm not just talking about a print from a printer–although you should note before going on that this is fully a review of the...
