Driver: San Francisco Review

Jam-packed full of content and with plenty of awesome licensed cars to enjoy, Driver: San Francisco is thrill ride that brings the series back to its driving roots. While the missions get a little repetitive near the end, the experience as a whole is refreshing and engaging, and the game's ‘Shift'...

The first Driver to arrive on current-gen consoles may well be one of the best in the series so far...

Driver: San Francisco Review

Games are full of excuses, whether they're telling you that a terrorist strike has closed off half the city you're exploring or that swimming is a bad idea when you have electricity coursing through your veins. As excuses go though, Driver: San Francisco throws up one of the more outrageous.

Driver: San Francisco Review

(continued from previous page) ...the way. An EXP system encourages you along nicely as you level up to unlock new stuff and a 'Freedrive' mode allows you to experience the city at your leisure.

The 'Shift' mechanic adds a new dynamic; particularly online; The impressively-designed city of San Francisco and its rolling roads; The instant pick-up-and play appeal.

The rubbish characters and corny dialogue; The drifting lacks 'oomph' and aggression; Slamming an opponent takes you crudely out of the action

Driver: San Francisco's inspired shift mechanic and wealth of action-packed content make it an absolute blast that revives the franchise.

Chasing down crooks in high-speed chases, performing death-defying feats of driving, or bringing down entire criminal organisations might be a bit much for your average cop, but Driver: San Francisco's John Tanner takes it in his stride.

Shift keeps the action fast paced and exciting; Huge open-world city to explore; Masses of content to play through; Fun online modes

Ridiculous storyline; Frame rate issues with split-screen; Missions get repetitive toward the end

Driver: San Francisco

Lasting impressions of the 2000 debut were great car handling and realistic damage. Fenders would bend, hubcaps flew off and tires howled as they hung on for dear life, as Reflections Interactive drew on inspiration from the 1978 film of the same name.

Driver San Francisco

The Driver series sees its beginnings back on the Playstation 1 and was one of the first games to feature a full city for players to drive around. This is a series that has definitely seen it's ups and downs, unfortunately mostly downs in recent history.

Review: Driver: San Francisco (360/PS3)

Despite its silly single-player story, Driver: San Francisco offers up plenty of worthwhile arcadey racing action.

Slick, arcade-y racing that looks great; it's really fun hooning around the supersized streets of 'Frisco; multiplayer modes are highly entertaining
