O ften in video games it's the little details that reassure you. Driveclub, Sony's "socially connected" driving game, was originally scheduled to accompany the PS4 launch last year, but was subsequently delayed for 10 months – a move that had many industry watchers worried.

Then I actually raced a few laps, and I totally forgot about how ugly it was. Sure, I noticed the occasional pop-in and things never looked as sharp as they should be, but the focus was purely on the racing. I was able to overlook its rough edges since the racing here is tremendous fun.

From the makers of the MotorStorm series on the PS3, the first game was one of the first big PS3 games, known for its brutal off-road racing and incredible graphics. What followed were two excellent sequels, Pacific Rift and Apocalypse.

When Sony unveiled the PS4 and introduced Driveclub, thoughts were mixed on whether Motorstorm developer Evolution Studios could deliver a more realistic racer that stands out among the competition.

It's actually really great racing game for the PS4 now and there is now a lot of free content. The graphics also look amazing still today.

Driveclub is not Gran Turismo. Despite sharing a genre and PlayStation exclusivity, Driveclub always feels like a clunkier, but competent, little brother. Like other "little brothers" of this world, Driveclub looks small when trying to compete in the same auto racing arena as its bigger counterpart.

This game is amazing, it's so good I haven't even played it and I'm saying it's amazing, so it must be good right? The loading times are great too, and the share button! Oh man!
