Dragon Quest is a series of video games that have been around for a very long time. The first one I played was way back when on the Gameboy Colour which I believe was Dragon Quest Monster Warriors. I also had a different game in the series on the Nintendo DS and loved playing them both.
enjoyable; fun; fast paced; suitable for most players
none
I am looking forward to this. Its looks like it could be one of the best RPGs on the next gen consoles to date.
Fantastic Game, recieved it a couple hours ago and have to say, its amazing! I've previously played DQVIII and fell in love with the story and gameplay. This game is a hack and slash, which is a nice update from the turn based system.
Not unlike last year's Hyrule Warriors , the concept behind Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below is to take the formula of the long-running Dynasty Warriors series of beat-em-ups, and apply it to a new and seemingly ill-fitting franchise.
Fantastic at capturing the charming spirit of the Dragon Quest series, but the repetition in its arena design cramps on its personality. Best played in short bursts.
The voice-acting is great; Look at how smiley the monsters are
Combat seems varied at first; but soon becomes repeatitive; The over-arching story is dull
occupies a similar place as games like Hyrule Warriors and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. The combat that makes up the majority of gameplay is fun but forgettable, and there's little else to keep you engaged unless you're sufficiently attached to the license.
Endearing visual design; Hypnotic gameplay rhythm
Mindless combat; Pointless upgrade path; Dull story
Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below feels like a Dragon Quest game trying to be a Dynasty Warriors title. The result is a Dynasty Warriors spin-off that's quite unlike any other on the market.
Dragon Quest is arguably the most successful partner so for Dynasty Warriors, but the potential of the franchise, and this particular crossover, is still only barely hinted at.
Slightly more involved combat than usual for the series and the colourful Dynasty Warriors enemies are a lot of fun; Shorter missions are much more satisfying than the series norm
By normal standards the action remains very shallow, and the game quickly starts to become a chore a few hours in; Pathetic artificial intelligence, simplistic level design, and weak script
The best thing about Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below is its soundtrack, not its character interactions or 300-hit combos. Thanks to regular Dragon Quest series composer Koichi Sugiyama, this latest action game from developer Omega Force ( Dynasty Warriors ) exudes an...
