Dragon Quest Heroes 2 Review – Adventures in Button Mashing

Dragon Quest Heroes 2 is a Musou game set in Square Enix's enormously popular RPG universe. The one with the blue slimes and the Dragonball hair, not the one with the Calvin Klein models swinging huge swords at each other.
Pros:
  • Delicious Musou combat
  • Tons of characters with unique abilities
  • Distinct Dragon Quest flavour
Cons:
  • Character growth is so boring
  • Non-combat quests interrupt momentum
  • Some combat quests felt padded

This review is long overdue, and all I can do is apologise. I've been going through a rough patch, especially these past few days, but with the help of fun game, any kind of stress and anxiety can float away. A fun game is what we all need from time to time.
Pros:
  • Large roster of Dragon Quest Heroes
  • Nice balance between free roam and battle sections
  • Some great boss fights
  • Lots of collectibles and extras to do
Cons:
  • Lock-aim only works for bigger enemies and isn't all that great
  • Vocations are fairly redundant
  • Some of the voice acting is off
  • Skill trees are limited

Fans of Dynasty Warriors or the Dragon Quest series will enjoy this second-edition genre mashup. Dragon Quest Heroes 2 strikes a great balance between complexity and action and weaves an entertaining story through and around its fast and furious battles.

Dragon Quest Heroes II review – crossover warriors

The new team-up between Square Enix and the makers of Dynasty Warriors offers four-player co-op and the promise of genuine change.
Pros:
  • The game almost plays like a proper action role-player now, with open world areas, switchable classes, and increased gameplay variety
  • Four-player co-op is very welcome, if awkward to use
Cons:
  • Highly repetitive in most of the usual Dynasty Warriors ways, including the brain-dead combat and non-existent artificial intelligence
  • Highly simplistic and cliched mission design

Refreshing Dragon quest Game

Probably one of the most unique PS4 games I've ever played. It's a mix of Dynasty warrior with RPG elements, makes this a very refreshing combination. The battle system is great, with classes and unique skill for each. The open world element, although pretty limited, is very nicely designed.

Different.

A different take on the hack and slash genre, but let down by sticky controls, dropped inputs and terrible voice acting.

Major game play changes!

So it's like the original but then again it's totally different. You can no longer charge your tension bar to full at any time by holding o. This is what has ruined this game for me. I gave the first heros a perfect rating and then some. Not being able to do coup de grace ever has ruined it for me.
