WR: Dragon Age 2 (Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Mac)

BioWare surprised at the end of 2009 with what seemed like a 3D version of its venerable dungeon crawling franchise, Baldur's Gate. In reality it combined the same great storytelling and party-based combat found in its sci-fi epic, Mass Effect but in a Dungeons & Dragons-inspired setting.

A more focussed story that centers around a man and his family, struggling to make their way in a new city; A refreshing break from always playing the savior of the world, Dialog is interesting and thought provoking, Sharper and brighter textures, Fantastic voice acting, Special...

The theme of "mages: good or evil?" is recycled a bit too much throughout the game;  Still fairly basic environmental- and character models; Forgettable music and sound effects; Good versus evil moral choices are still pretty arbitrary;  Everything is structured so there is little in the way of...

Dragon Age 2

Dragon Age 2 Review

Two years ago, BioWare amazed RPG players with their incredible game, Dragon Age: Origins. The game was truly a work of art. Now, in 2011, we finally get our hands on the much anticipated sequel, Dragon Age II.

+ Fast; fun game play; + Nice visuals; + Beautiful music; + Extensive skill trees; + Great presentation

Sometimes too simplistic; Not much variety in early quests; Just doesn’t have that epic feel; Not much customization for party members

Dragon Age 2 Review

Saving the world has become an integral part of RPG narrative arcs over the years, so when this small feature in the story is omitted, one can't help but feel that things are just a little bit off.

Dragon Age II

. It focuses on the story of 'The Champion', a Human character who rises to fame and power across the course of the game and promised a brand new graphics style and more intense combat. But do the multitude of changes in the game devalue the Dragon Age tale?

Dragon Age 2 – Review (Xbox 360)

Dragon Age was Bioware's spiritual successor to their Baldur's Gate series from the over a decade ago. Baldur's Gate was the first breakthrough hit for Bioware and holds a special place in a lot of gamer's hearts. It did the tactical RPG genre right.

Dragon Age 2

I don't think it beats Origins, but it is still a great game. They have changed a phew functions that didn't need changing and some of the characters arent as memorable, but the action is more colourful and intense than before. Would recommend a rental. 8/10.

A Wonderful Disappointment

If you really loved Origins like I did, then you will probably find that almost everything about the game has been dumbed-down, but as disappointing as this was compared to Origins I still really enjoyed it. I personally think the combat has been improved, but a lot of the strategy has been removed.

Combat; Easy To Learn; Engaging Story Line; Gameplay; Graphics

Extremely Mainstreamed

Dragon Age 2 Review

Dragon Age 2 marks the end of the RPG genre of old.  For gamers such as me who grew up on a diet of dice rolls and D&D lore it may come as a bitter pill to swallow.  The new Dragon Age game is stream lined and simplified to a degree that makes it a whole new beast from the Baldur's Gates and...

The world of Dragon Age is still interesting; Interface improvements; Streamlined combat and inventory management

Repetitive secondary quests; Recycled environments

I liked Dragon Age Origins, and I liked this sequel too. Similar RPG experience in the Bioware style. Love the lengthy story and character relationships. One change is that your character is predetermined instead of chosen by you, which is a different story-telling technique.
