Doom 3: BFG Edition

As a console game, Doom 3: BFG Edition makes perfect sense. Not only does it come complete with the seminal Doom and Doom II , expansion pack Resurrection of Evil and the newly-released Lost Mission, but it updates Doom 3 in the process, providing console gamers with a release more akin to its PC...

Doom 3: BFG Edition Review (PC)

Now, id and its new owner, Bethesda, have returned with the Doom 3: BFG Edition, which is practically a collection of the three main games in the series, plus a variety of extra content and features.

+Still the classic Doom experience plus some improvements; +Old-school horror; +Doom 1 and 2 are still quite fun

-Graphics haven't aged well; -Sound quality is quite bad; -Lost Mission campaign doesn't add much new content

Review: Doom 3: BFG Edition is a hell of a good time

Doom 3 has been shaking up audiences for well over six years now, doing quite well for id Software since its release on Xbox and PC.  But since that time, we've heard very little movement on the franchise, even though Doom 4 is in the works…and set to release, well, someday.

I have an interesting genesis as a gamer. Unlike a lot of my generation, it didn't start as a full-on hobbyist on classic consoles like the NES, Genesis and SNES. I played those of course-plenty of friends owned them and I have fond memories of Track and Field, Sonic the Hedgehog and Mario All...

Still good, but beware the new changes.

I would only recommend buying this game if you want to see Doom 3 in 3D, or you have no qualms about the loss of mods or the censorship. Even then, supporting a move like this is difficult to justify. How much you lose by buying this version is very noticeable versus what you could gain.

Pros - - The new high-resolution textures; Running on ID Tech 5, the RAGE engine, this game looks even more gorgeous now than it did back in 2004; - Five games in one; You get Doom 1 (Ultimate) and 2, Doom 3, Resurrection of Evil, and the Lost Missions.

Cons - - Censorship; I've noticed a lot of this while playing, mostly in the original Doom games you get with this title; The red crosses on med-kits and stim-packs are now red/white pills, and the secret Wolfenstein maps have been heavily censored, removing all (censored word) references/images,...

Bringing back the horror in more ways than one

I grew up on the Doom saga and I have to admit I was shocked when Bethesda wanted to come out with a collectors edition of Doom 3. When Doom 3 came out to me it was terrifying a new twist on first person shooter while keeping the the classic feel of Doom.

VERY DISAPPOINTED AMAZON

Very disappointed. Couldn't play the game. When it was sent the code was already activated by someone else. We were sent a used game.

PC - Doom 3 BFG Edition

This is awesome for the price, even if you already own Doom 3. The only disappointment is the requirement for Steam because I still do not trust Valve, but it's alright if you're worried about damaging the disc. I am disappointed by this because Doom 3 originally shipped with Linux support.

Game Review: DOOM 3 BFG Edition [PC/Xbox 360/PS3]

DOOM is one of the founding game series in the first person shooter genre, helping to establish networking multiplayer and popularising the genre to its current level. Does this latest release of the 2004 game DOOM 3 set the same standards?

Motion Blur Feature

- Not too much improved

Not as good as it looks

If I could send it back I would. Yes, you do get the games, and yes you can play them, but.... - You get a dvd but it still requires a huge download. Even with my 35mb super fibre connection it too a while.

None as yet as I'm still waiting for the game to download; Thought I was buying a game but just got a web link and a licence number
