Devil May Cry HD Collection Review – Tell Me Again How That Was Remastered

Developed by Capcom, Devil May Cry is yet again getting the remaster treatment, this time bringing it up to speed with the PlayStation 4. The series, of course, follows the son of Sparda, Dante, as he jumps, shoots, slashes, and sasses his way through hordes of demons and horrible creatures.

Fast Paced; Nostalgic; Dante Is Back; Notable Series Progression

Camera Angles (DMC 1; Boring Dante (DMC 2; No Camera Controls

Devil May Cry HD Collection Review -PS4

The chance to properly spruce up Dante's first three adventures has been missed here, and instead we get the already miserly remasters that appeared on PS3. At a time where it'd be great to remember why Devil May Cry can be so good, we get minimal effort and Devil May Cry 2.

DmC Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition review – Dante's second chance

Only masochists will appreciate all of the new features, but they do help to round out what was always an unfairly pilloried and already highly competent action game.

Hugely entertaining combat system is fluid, highly versatile, and relatively accessible; The optional tweaks to the difficulty are substantial and hugely challenging

Few real changes to the core combat, leaving the boss battles and late-game enemies as frustrating as ever; Dante is still a douchebag and the low res textures are still distracting

PS4 Review - 'DmC Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition'

Buy DmC Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition The original Devil May Cry created the character-action genre, and the reboot of the franchise by developer Ninja Theory drew a lot of ire from Devil May Cry die-hards.

DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition

When it was originally released in 2013 DmC: Devil May Cry raised the ire of many fans of Capcom's long running series by taking a different tact and daring to reboot the franchise with a decidedly different take on the demon hunting protagonist Dante.

DmC: Definitive Edition

Ninja Theory's 2013 Devil May Cry reboot was controversial, but if you could look beyond its precocious young Dante and his cropped dark hair, you would find one of the slickest, smartest brawlers of recent years.

Excellent combat; Imaginative art design; Intense turbo mode; The most comprehensive version

Visual enhancements only minor; Tries a little too hard to be punk
