Deadfall Adventures

I can't fault Deadfall Adventures for its style. It's truly pretty, with some stunning architecture. But if Farm 51's FPS wasn't so striking, its mediocrity wouldn't be quite so obvious: the sumptuous art design is like a light that illuminates the clichéd level design and boring puzzles.

Very pretty; Diverse locations

Tedious combat; Boring puzzles; Poor acting and writing

Deadfall Adventures

Deadfall Adventures is the newest game from Polish developer The Farm 51, who has previously worked on PC first person shooters NecrovisioN and Painkiller: Hell & Damnation. While this new title is also a first person shooter, the team has decided to go in a different direction this time around and...

+ Lengthy Adventure mode with a variety of environments to explore; + Some interesting puzzles that help to add some much needed variety to the gameplay; + In-depth Survival mode that can be played co-op; + Art design makes the levels look very appealing graphically; + Decent voice acting and...

- Gun play feels a bit unsatisfying at times and enemy AI is a mixed bag; - Occasional clipping and glitches late in the Adventure mode; as well as some cut off audio during cut scenes; - Too many invisible walls for a game that encourages exploration; - Storyline is too generic and isn't truly...

Dreadfall

Indiana Jones. From the battered fedora, the bullwhip and the fear of snakes to the irredeemable, limping Gestapo villains, Indy has found his way firmly into the public consciousness and has been ripped off inexhaustibly since Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Bland; Terribly written; Limiting

Deadfall Adventures Review (PC)

Deadfall Adventures is an ambitious game that, unfortunately, disappoints through its wonky shooting, its hit and miss puzzles, and the rough character animations. While it could've been a really impressive experience, it ends up being a lackluster one.

+Varied puzzles; +Extensive multiplayer game types

-Wonky shooting; -Poor animations; -Linear environments

Deadfall Adventures

Deadfall Adventures embraces its inspiration entirely, weaving together a story chalked full of every pulp adventure cliché under the sun. Mysteriously awoken supernatural evil? Check. Booby-trapped ruins peppered with collectable treasure? Yep.

Dedicates itself to its pulp adventure roots; beautiful environments; and cool paranormal enemies

Flat characters and plot; inconsistent voice acting; and serviceable but ultimately forgettable puzzles and shooting mechanics

Deadfall Adventures

Deadfall Adventures takes its inspiration from Indiana Jones and H.R. Haggard. Those are big shoes to fill, and Nordic's newest first-person adventure doesn't even come close. The three large environments are impressive, but the story is nothing new and combat is boring.

Deadfall Adventures – Review

It can be fascinating to discover how a pre-conceived mental image of something can be entirely different from the reality. After watching the trailers for this FPS prior to release we thought we were in for a simplistic run and gunner, much like The Farm 51’s own Painkiller: Hell and Damnation.

Deadfall Adventures

Deadfall Adventures certainly has some problems but if you're an Indiana Jones fan you really should be getting it. The shooting isn't anything to write home about, animation is rather basic, voice acting is okayish, and there are glitches and little problems aplenty, but the puzzles, exploration,...

Deadfall Adventures

It's got its fair share of flaws, some of which could be patched-up, but I found the sum of Deadfall Adventures' parts good enough, and more importantly fun enough, to keep playing.

Deadfall Adventures

The best part of this game is the way it looks. It has some ugly character models and texture pop-in symptomatic of the Unreal Engine. Geometry and depth of field effects outdoors can look a little nasty. But for the most part you're looking at sharp, very well-lit tombs, caverns and installations.
