Dead Or Alive 5: Last Round review – the physics of?sexism

As competent as the last two updates but still a fighting game held back more by its creepy designs and boring characters, than its purposefully simplistic action.

A lot deeper than it initially appears, even if that's not saying much; Excellent tutorial and practise options; Some fun power blows

Purposefully shallow combat is accessible but quickly becomes uninteresting; Last Round itself doesn't offer much that is new and the fetishised character designs still lack personality

Dead or Alive 5: Last Round

Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is the best version of the game, but things have moved on since it first came out. Still a good, fun scrapper, though.

Two new fighters (especially Honoka; Having DoA on new-gen; Previously-purchased DLC carries over

Hardly any graphical upgrade for new-gen; The series needs to move forward; The 'sexy' angle feels really creepy now

Dead or Alive 5 Last Round

2013's Dead or Alive 5 was the only major 3D fighter released then that actually played like what you would think a current-gen fighter to be. Tekken, SoulCalibur, and Virtua Fighter's latest entries play great – but feel like they're higher-res versions of games from prior generations.

Dead or Alive 5 Last Round Review: Another Fighter Approaches

The final version of Dead or Alive 5 is here. The original release entered the ring back in 2012 and since then has had various re-releases, including Plus and Ultimate . With Dead or Alive 5: Last Round , the game has been fully realized for the current generations of consoles.

This game is fun no doubt

Coming from a hardcore Tekken background. This game is fun no doubt. Worth the price? Yeah

Dead or Alive 5 Last Round (PlayStation 4) Review

After a shaky launch that saw Dead or Alive 5 Last Round being prone to a number of bugs in its first week or so, the latest patch now sees Team Ninja's vibrant and bouncy fighter settle into the acceptable state that it should have been released in.

Review: Dead or Alive 5: Last Round

Controversy has always surrounded the Dead or Alive franchise, the infamous fighting series with a heavy emphasis on scantily-clad women beating up equally semi-naked opponents. I picked up Team Ninja's re-release of Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, with some reluctance; I...

A pleasure: fun and goofy; More the solid gameplay; Worthwhile inclusions in a re-release

A guilty pleasure: often cringe worthy; Somewhat reserved game modes; Sometimes clunky controls

Superb gameplay; Fun story mode; Interactive stages; Plenty of content

Ridiculous DLC; Patch problems for Europe; Occasional freezes; Mishmash of visuals

Dead or Alive 5: Last Round review

Can sound fighting mechanics trump some of the most juvenile, sweaty-palmed assets in video games? Alan Bell takes a peep at Dead or Alive 5: Last Round.

Tight; approachable gameplay that grips you from the get-go

Awful story; basic modes; offensive
