Dead Space 3 review

The main reason Dead Space 3 isn't as scary as its forebears is that Isaac is tooled up to the nines. The original Dead Space did enough to keep the tension up, but it's difficult to call it pure horror when your protagonist wanders around in an armoured onesie wielding a plasma weapon.

In Space, No One Can Hear Me Yawn

If the original Dead Space was comparable to Ridley Scott's classic film Alien , then Dead Space 3 must be the series's inadvertent homage to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein . Dead Space 3 (Xbox 360) Review

Dead Space 3 is not a horror title, but an action one. The story is definitely not the strongest either thanks to a large use of clichés and a pretty weak script. There's still plenty to love though and the potential for a Dead Space 4 after the events of the game is huge.

Review: Dead Space 3: Awakened (Microsoft Xbox 360)

So, anyone who's been following along for any period of time may remember this, but back when Dead Space 2: Severed came out, my observation at the time was thus: Dead Space 2 was a very good game, but Dead Space 2: Severed was not a very good piece of DLC for the game.

Dead Space 3 review

Familiarity doesn't have to breed contempt, but it still makes for barren soil where horror is concerned. In fact, it's a cruel irony that the genre most damaged by repetition is the one that spawns the most sequels.
