Dead Space 3 is a good game with moments of greatness that continues to offer up the best in scary moments and the ultimate in survival horror tension, and while I admire Visceral Games' attempt to offer something beyond the traditional experience, they may have gone just a bit too far.

Dead Space 3 is a terrifying journey that you will embark on as Engineer Isaac Clarke, who once again gets drawn into piecing together the mysteries of the Marker and will now need to face the horrors of the frozen planet of Tau Volantis to discover the truth and stop the plague of Necromorphs.

Since its introduction with the first game, we've seen the Dead Space universe unfold and expand with a mixture of transmedia releases and a clear eye for detail and narrative foundation.

It's an unfortunate side effect of today's industry that almost every one of our favourite franchises we enjoyed in our youths is being butchered or shaken up to the point where it barely resembles what it originally started off as.

Dead Space 3 was simultaneously building up a big hype and setting itself up for a fail in the months preceding its release. Dead Space 3 is less scary and more action-packed this time around. It's like the developers just wanted to push the story on through (what's left of it) and keep everything flowing. This does make you puzzled at times where at times you don't really know what's going on.

While the buzz surrounding the game brought fear to a lot of the series' veteran players over the past few months, I'm happy to report that the final product is a near-perfect balance of classic Dead Space and action-oriented gameplay.

Before we get started, I'm going to preface this review with what it isn't. While the presence of a substantial amount of launch DLC that could have easily become a part of the product at large has its implications, I'm not going to focus on that in the course of this review.
