Dead Rising 4: Frank's Big Package

The Dead Rising series is now over a decade old, and while I guess I could consider myself a veteran, that status is somewhat fresh. I remember buying the original on its release date, and I remember even better being put off by its structure and a hundred tiny annoyances that congealed into one...

Dead Rising 4: Frank's Big Package review – delivering on PS4

We can't quite believe it's been 11 years since the first Dead Rising was released. Not because the original sits particularly fresh in our memory but because it never seemed the sort of thing to justify three sequels and innumerable spin-offs, remasters, and cameos in other games.

The new open world environment is fun, and so are most of the weapons and combos; Frank is great and the exo suit abilities and Capcom Heroes are welcome

Almost nothing in the way of new ideas; And while the lack of time limits will please as many people as it irritates, the removal of campaign co-op is inexcusable

Dead Rising 4: Frank's Big Package Review – PS4

Dead Rising 4 review copy provided by Capcom Dead Rising 4 should, by all accounts, be a big dumb hoot. It sees the return of Frank West. There's ridiculous weapons and costumes. And it has enough zombies to cover two apocalypses. Most importantly, it's set at bloody Christmas.

Dead Rising 4: Frank's Big Package Review

Dead Rising 4: Frank's Big Package is an exceptional port of the original package, with additional content that fans will have a blast with. But that doesn't mean it isn't still the worst entry in the series by quite a wide margin.

Occasional funny moments; Stupid; fun weapons

Dull open world; Shallow combat; Boring missions; Frustrating encounters; Numerous visual and audio problems

Dead Rising 4: Frank's Big Package (PlayStation 4) Review

It's 2021 and Willamette just can't seem to catch a break. Shortly after the grand opening of the Willamette Memorial Megaplex, the city was overrun by the walking dead. Didn't this already happen about fifteen years ago

Dead Rising 4: Frank's Big Package Review

All mouth, all trousers

Lots of content; Capcom Heroes is fun

Transitioning issues between cutscenes and gameplay; Repetitive killing the further you get in; Camera gets tricky to maneuver when fighting large hordes

Dead Rising 4: Frank's Big Package (PS4) Review

Timed exclusives are becoming a larger part of Microsoft's strategy, but for those who don't own an Xbox One or play on PC, it's an improvement over the permanent exclusives of old that formerly locked them out.

It's absolutely brimming with content

They've taken out some of what made Dead Rising unique
