is a game that almost instantly rose near the top of many gamers "most wanted" charts due to impressive visuals, strong gameplay and simply the idea of an open-world zombie slaughter gets people excited.

It boggles the mind as to how Techland has gone from developing Call of Juarez: The Cartel ( our review here ), contender for one of the worst games of the year thus far, to creating a polished and entertaining zombie-slaying romp in Dead Island.

Dead Island is an addictive whirlwind of action, blood and gore, set on a gorgeous tropical landscape packed to the brim with content and, most importantly, zombies. And boy do those zombies hate your guts!

Dead Island, while rough around the edges, has a lot of content for those willing to put in the hard yards of side questing and zombie murdering, and is ultimately a solid open world adventure.

Techland's overdue foray into the world of zombie-killing has its share of problems, but it's largely saved by the excellent co-op action and detailed island setting.

Flawless co-op multiplayer; The game can be as deep or as shallow as you want it to be.

Not the most user friendly of controls to begin with; Stiff character movement.

Game starts off as a survival horror, but as it goes on and you become more badass, it becomes a fun light hearted arcade FPS. Recommended to play as the Brute, Blunt weapon expert on your first playthrough. :D
