Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition Review

Dark Souls , like Demon's Souls before it, defies so many gaming sensibilities that either game's catastrophic failure would not be surprising. However, the truly unique blend of play mechanics and design philosophies have come together two times now in logic-defying synchronicity to create a pair...

Incredible depth of play; Fierce challenge that isn't cheap; Learning the game world; then building a character; equipment loads; and skills around that knowledge

Technical hiccups like throttled resolution and frame rate; Poor PC controls essentially require purchase of a USB controller

One of the best gaming experiences ever.........even though I did feel like crying at some points

I'll admit that I'm not the best at keeping cool playing games. Sometimes my emotions get the best of me. And in my last 20 years of gaming a few pads may have been thrown. But not during this game. Why you ask? Well dying is important in this game. When you start this game you will be overwhelmed.

cheap and fun

If you played demon souls before, this game would be best played after, and then prepare to die edition xD

Cheap, challenging game that only costs 20 bucks; Worth getting if into challenging games with lots of playthrough.

Not many cons to look at considering 20 bucks for a good quality game; (Maybe might be too difficult for people, but its all preference

The hardest game this generation is one of the best games ever.

Dark Souls is hard... really hard. But I love it. The game looks beautiful, the gameplay is fantastic and the game can be quite scary. There was only one issue I had with the game and that was the frame rate would drop during areas with lots of enemies, which was really quite annoying.

love the dark souls

We have been playing this game nonstop, every day, for a couple months now. We have not yet completed this game to our satisfaction though. We will continue to play it. It inhabits our thoughts, our plans, our dreams. It is beautiful, frustrating, haunting, & fascinating game. you will like it.

Modern games are redeemed

Dark Souls is a blessed anomaly among contemporary games. In a world where easy, shallow, and hand-holding gameplay reigns supreme, this game holds its head proudly and sticks to its noble pedigree, refusing to make compromises and demanding all the respect it deserves.

Video games have never been more mainstream than they are now, in 2013; They evolved from experiments conducted by lone nerds to multi-million projects rivaling movies in scope and ambition; But popularity does not always coincide with quality.

Do you like breezing through games with just a few clicks? Do you enjoy games telling you exactly what to do and how to do it? Do you abhor careful planning and persistent character-building? In this case; stay away from

ONE GAME THAT YOU'LL NEVER STOP PLAYING!

The game is amazing and rewarding if you are persistent and persevere through its insanely hard trials. There is a huge story in wait for those who are patient as the plot becomes apparent only towards the end of the first half of the game. The music is amazing and the BOSSes are super scary.

I enjoyed the game a lot, and dying plenty of times, could you please update the description and image, to show that it is only the game being sold, and doesn't include the japanese extras, as it normally would

Dark Souls

First, allow me to begin with a caveat; I have not completed Dark Souls . I have invested over 90 hours of play into the game, exploring the vast majority of its world and facing off against (if not defeating) many of the boss enemies.
