Porting done right!

I am so glad I bought this game. I didn't pick up doom last year so I was new jumping into this game. I was skeptical too so I watched all of the early access reviews and heard all about the low res graphics and framerate issues, but... Now those reviews feel like pc gamer gripes.

DOOM - Nintendo Switch

LOVE Doom on my Switch and I haven't even played it portable yet! Fun/limited story with an updated Doom theme makes for an excellent first person shooter. I never notice any issues with the graphics limited capabilities.

Rip and tear on the go.

This has to be one of the most cathartic games I've ever played. Ripping demons' limbs off while running around like a maniac blasting other demons with a super shotgun to an amazing soundtrack is the experience I never knew I needed until now, and having the ability to play this during a lunch...

Review: Doom

Panic Button has done an impressive job of porting DOOM from more powerful hardware to the Switch making the necessary compromises to create an enjoyable, and worthy, addition to the console that truly feels like DOOM whether in docked mode with the Pro Controller or undocked with the Joy-Con.

Feels like DOOM; Adrenaline-charged fast-paced action; Satisfying weapons

Visuals can be very blurry at times; Audio problems; Frame rate suffers during intense battles

Doom on Switch review – port(al) to Hell

A seemingly impossible port is carried off surprisingly gracefully, with the old school shooter action working very well as a handheld game.

The action is excellent, with some hugely entertaining weapons and enemies; In-depth upgrade system and some clever map designs; Arcade mode is great

The single-player campaign loses steam before the end, and the multiplayer is only of passing interest; Mediocre art design; The loss of 60fps is understandable but unfortunate

Doom (Switch)

If someone last year had told us the new Doom would be released on a Nintendo console, we would have laughed. "There's no way Nintendo has a console with enough juice to run Doom!," we would have said.

Doom on Switch review: As fantastic as you think

Not since 1997's Doom 64 has a Doom title seen the light of day on a Nintendo console. Now, in an era where Nintendo has lost much of its hardcore appeal in favour of a family-friendly appearance, such a partnership seems a bit bizarre.

30fps cap doesn't stop this from being fun; Doom on the go; Plenty of content

It's not as slick as other console releases; Multiplayer is fun but; mostly; pointless

It's 2017, and this is a review for DOOM on the Nintendo Switch. Even after having completed the 8-to-10 hour campaign, spending a few more hours in multiplayer and having tried out arcade mode, it still feels unreal. After 20 years, id's magnum opus is back on a Nintendo console.

Corners have been cut, but generally where it counts

Bethesda has squashed its 2016 shooter onto Switch, and while it's missing some polish, it's still a lot of fun

DOOM can be summed up in short: Blood, guts, gore and extreme violence. It was originally released in 2016 on PS4, PC and Xbox One. I finished the game back then and absolutely loved it. Here, I have the Switch version where part of my review will discuss how it holds up in comparison.
