Affordable, awesome as an OS drive

There was nothing special or remarkable about installing the device (it did come with two mSATA sized screws tho), and consecutively installing Windows 7 Pro on it was a breeze on my Lenovo Y500.

The Crucial M500 solid-state drive may be at the bottom of our lineup, but it can still hold its own. This SSD is quick and efficient and will do the job in just about any machine. A Marvell controller drives this device along with MLC flash-component technology and SATA 3 compatibility.

The Crucial M500 solid-state drive is fast; and Crucial has fantastic help and support options

This is a 2.5-inch form factor SSD that does not come with a 3.5-inch mounting kit

Crucial M500 M.2 NGFF SATA 3 SSD Review (480GB) – High Capacity and Power Loss Data Protection

As much as we want the unbelievable performance that we see in PCIe M.2 SSDs, the name of the game today is capacity and the number of e-mails received from people looking for higher capacity SSDs is amazing.

Prior to the m4, Crucial updated their flagship SSD products roughly every year, but that changed when m4 stretched the timeline. The m4 product series held a two-year stretch on the timeline and is still a popular product today, while the existing supply dwindles away.

It's good!

This is my first SSD. I had been waiting for one affordable yet big enough that daily operations wasn't extremely painful due to small size. I get FAR more iops in every size range than my four disk sata or SAS10k raid00 arrays.

1st SSD - happy!

Upgrade for my 2008 MacBook Pro which had mechanical hdd. Very happy with the performance gain. I've read quite a bit about these drives and the 120GB and 240GB are said to have poor write speeds compared to peers. I don't need great writes for my Mac so price was my driver.

Solid Solid State Drive

This is an issue in the driver<->firmware interaction and can be fixed in a future update.

Installation of OSes were fast and easy

Hibernation issues with AMD chipsets; I asked about it on the Crucial forums and got other AMD users saying they were having issues; From what I heard from Intel users it needs an older driver version to hibernate properly.

Installed with only slight difficulty

I went through a few iterations to install the drive. It was not possible to create a mirror image of the original using a USB external drive box because of format restrictions. I installed the SSD drive in the computer, and with a free program called "Macrium Reflect" the cloning worked like a...

Great drive with lots of speed. Hope it lasts and doesnt crap out after a year or so. Downgraded it because it didnt include an adapter for a 3.5 slot.

Great drive; Gave me the extra speed I needed for the computer I use as a small business server

said comes with a adapter but I had to order one that would work in a 3.5 slot
